Coaching - An Effective Tool for Managers

Effective managerial skills are very important for the development of any organisation. Managers should be capable enough to control the team. Coaching is significantly said to be the most helpful tool in order to be a good manager. Coaching helps improve the performance of managers in every organisation.

In such an increasingly competitive and complex environment, individuals and teams from any organisation should be well trained and talented enough to survive and adapt to the changing business processes. They should always work for adapting and developing new and newer managerial skills.

As they move forward into decision-making and management functions, and on into higher-ranking management, they ought to get hold of impressive abilities to put up and preserve effective associations, to establish and connect with operational goals and to keep an eye on efficiency.

Learning is an on-going process. One can at any point of time, acquire many different managerial capabilities and expertise. Managers are actually embracing the new way to learn managerial skills and motivate and inspire their team. One to one performance helps in the growth of both organisation and individual. Coaching for managers helps you to learn to:

There are various styles of managerial skills. Here’s a list of the 2 main management styles working within organisations today.

1. Coaching style

2. Command and Control style

Organisations can profit a lot from the entire concept of coaching and help developing proficiency within their teams. Coaching style varies a lot from the command style of manager. It is said that a newly appointed manager should act as a coach towards the team and help his/her team and organisation progress right from where they are. Managers can have a great command over their team if they opt for coaching style of manager.

What is the Difference between them?

When we talk about difference between coaching styles and command styles, in coaching style, you need to be more than a manager. If you opt for coaching style of manager, then you have to train your team according to your capabilities to fulfil organisational goals. Discontented and inadequately attended staffs deliver unpleasant and unreasonable dealing to their clients. And thus, in today's place of work, a management style of approaching people surrounding frequently helps the highest performers to move forward right outside the door. In coaching style of manager, the workforce has an extended learning bend and the common work experience becomes more like a learning experience.

On the contrary, in control style of manager, the entire thought is that your staff will do what you notify them to do, and if they don’t, you shriek at them until they do, and if they still don’t, you hurl them in the corner for a while. Thus, you can clearly observe that a coaching style of management will surely work in comparison to control style of management. People don’t mind learning new things, but surely they would mind being thrown out of the organisation now and then.

Many companies are into coaching style of manager as it is more beneficial. Companies like EDS, Chrylser, Herman Miller, etc. use coaching style to achieve their organisational goals thereby facilitating growth and development of the company.

[/quote:gxmrz8rk] Unfortunately, to get people to respond to anythign these days, you probably need to up the ante to at least $10. Managers to whom time is money aren't going to take even 5 minutes out of their day to answer questions and then just get $5 for it!
