Achieving goals PT.2

3.)Don't be too hard on yourself for swaying from time to time, it happens to all of us. Also you don't want to be so rigid in reaching your goals that you close yourself out from opportunities that do present themselves. As you achieve success you move from the realm of the known and discover things "you don't know you don't know". That new information will impact your goals.
4.)Decide weather your goals is something you can do alone or will you need support from others. The question is, will you have the cooperation? It is very important to check with the individual to see if they share the same goals as you do. It will not work if you are working towards a goal that they do not or are not willing to help you achieve.
5.)When documenting your goals be sure to do it as a positive instead of the negative. Work for what you want, not for what to leave behind. For example, if you find your job dull and unrewarding and you want to find another one, phrase your goal as "Find an exciting and engaging new job", rather than "Leave my current job".
6.)Turn your goals into something positive. Writing your goals as if they already happened is a powerful motivator. For example "at the end of the year I will have successfully completed my Bachelor's degree with a 3.5 GPA. Speaking to yourself works on the subconscious and the conscious mind to support you in what you want, I might add positive selftalk is very important in counteracting those nasty goal hijackers or any negative obstacles you discover.
7.)Only share your goals with those who will support you in achieving them, any negative and bad attitudes can and will bring you down.

They simply have im - To stay motivated and work to achieve your goals, first thing is that the goals must be ones that you truly want and believe you can achieve. If the goals are ones that you think you should have,(in other words impotent goals) then forget it, it just won't happen. MichelleJ
Re: Did you meet your goals in 2010? Re: Did you meet your goals in 2010? - Hey Yinka, I met some of my goals, but I didn't meet others. One of my goals was to get out of debt. I managed to do so, only to get back into debt due to an unforeseen circumstance. Business-wise, I didn't quite reach the goals I had; although, I came much closer than I did back in 2009. At least it was an improvement, and I expect to reach my goals for 2011. Best wishes for you, and I hope you can reach all the goals you set.

Re: The Half time of the year is over Re: The Half time of the year is over - Hi Yinka, Yes, six months remain and most of my goals also remain... goals! That reminds me, it's time to head over to Kevin's thread on "goals" and hand in another report...
