About Worrying

I often hear people talk about how worried they are about one thing or another. The dictionary says that worry means to be uneasy in the mind or feel anxiety about something; to fret; to pull or tear at something. Worry seems to be in the same family with Fear. As with fear, most of the time, we worry about something that has not or may not even happen. Worrying is something that we all do from time to time. Did you know that the word worry also means to advance or manage despite trails and difficulties; to move with effort? Isn't that interesting?! Isn't it better to view worrying it a much more positive light? Worrying may not be such a bad thing if you view it in that way.

The first thing to do when you find yourself worrying is to realize that it may take some effort however, you will manage and advance regardless of how difficult the situation may seem. If you feel that the worrying is overwhelming and you still feel uneasy or anxious, just simply trust. Trust means gaining total confidence in yourself and your ability to become successful. I'm sure you never worry about the things you need in order to stay alive. You just trust that they will be there, and they are. You trust that your heart will beat, your blood will flow, your lungs will expand and that your feet will stay firmly planted on the ground. Through your faith, you trust that you will be provided with everything you need without any effort on your part. If you are going to worry, please worry in a more positive way.

View worrying in a positive way. Be aware of what you are worried about. Know that you will advance no matter what. Instead of worrying, trust.

"If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself but to your own estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment." -- Charles F. Kettering

"You need not wrestle for your good. Your good, flows to you most easily when you are relaxed, open, and trusting." -- Alan Cohen

Re: What is your biggest challenge? Today? Re: What is your biggest challenge? Today? - [quote="GT Bulmer":10b1rb6o]sounds like keeping one foot on the dock and one in the boat, doesn't it?) I've had suggestions of interest from other high profile potential clients but I have chosen not to pursue them at this time.[/quote:10b1rb6o] Hi GT, Who knows, perhaps you'll need to take that leap of faith and "burn your bridges" (of escape/going back) like Dale Carnegie suggests in "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" to get to the next level and reach your income goal. Complacency and comfort can be death.
Betting on the law of averages Betting on the law of averages - Dale Carnegie says "As the years went by, I gradually discovered that ninety-nine per cent of the things I worried about never happened... The most famous insurance company on earth-Lloyd's of London-has made countless millions of dollars out of the tendency of everybody to worry about things that rarely happen. Lloyd's of London bets people that the disasters they are worrying about will never occur. However, they don't call it betting. They call it insurance. But it is really betting based on the law of averages...don't happen nearly so often as people imagine" ("How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" 67 & 68). In the past, I think I spent an additional $130 for "3 Year Return to Depot Service and Technical Support" when I bought my Dell laptop and $30 for 2 years of replacement protection for my glass desk. While I've had to call Dell for technical support for my laptop on a few occasions, I've yet to replace any glass panel on my desk.
