Feed Your Mind
Many years ago I saw a woman walking down the street with her daughter and just as they were passing by me I heard the little girl say "Mommy, where are we going?" The woman replied "Be quiet and just be happy you're going somewhere!" When I heard this, I thought to myself, that this is probably one of the reasons why some people walk around aimlessly, without knowing where they are headed in life or not even striving to do something to make their lives better.
When I was about 14 years old, my older brother asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said "I want to be a statistician." He simple said "Oh, you're not going to be able to do that." I never even questioned why he thought that, I just started thinking of something else I could do.
I'm sure the intention of the little girl's mother and my brother was not to stop us from moving forward with our dreams and goals, however, messages such as these get filed right into our subconscious mind. As children, we may not have had so much control over what we saw or heard growing up however, as adults we definitely have control over what we choose to take in.
What you put into your mind has an effect on your whole life. Watching the news can often cause you to worry and keep you in a constant state of fear. Also, being around certain people can keep you in a negative frame of mind. If you find yourself in the presence of anything that may not be helping to move you to a higher level of success, do what you can to remove yourself. I'm not suggesting that you stop watching the news altogether and I am aware that you may not be able to avoid some naysayers; I'm simply saying to be mindful of how you are choosing to react to or hold on to the information you are receiving.
You can do whatever you set your mind to do. Amongst the several people I know who have lost their jobs recently, they seem to fall into two categories. The first type are people who are upset, depressed and constantly complaining about their troubles. They talk to anyone who will listen and agree with them about times being hard and how there are no jobs and money available. The second type are optimistic and happy about the new opportunities ahead of them. They have chosen not to take in what the media and others are saying about the economy and are focusing on the positive. Some of them have found new jobs and others have started businesses! I want you to be very clear about the message I'm conveying to you. Yes, it is true that there are problems and issues in life we must face. However, your success is determined by how you take in, process and handle those problems and issues.
It is very important that you are aware of the power you have within your own life. Did you know that you have the answers to the questions you seek? Do you know how powerful you are? Do you know that you can accomplish any goal you choose to? Do you know that whatever problem you are faced with right now, you can figure out a way to solve it?
If you are not doing, being and having all that you want, you must take a look at what you are feeding your mind. Please be constantly aware of what you are thinking about and focusing on, in order to keep moving to the level of success you aspire to. Focus on your success!
"Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. You mind will seek to develop the picture." -- Norman Vincent Peale
