In order to get rid of negative thoughts, you have to constantly plant good thoughts. The best way to plant good thoughts is to change your language. Speaking positively is one of the quickest ways to tap into your successful self. The words you speak have a big impact on your life. Rev. Dr. Iyanla Vanzant, inspirational speaker and New Thought spiritual teacher, taught me how to change the way I say things. I developed the acronym I.Y.A.N.L.A. as a reminder to expressed myself in a more positive way. The acronym means: Inspect Yourself and Apply New Language Affirmatively.
In an effort to change my thoughts to positive, I started changing the way I say things. I noticed that whenever I said the word "bills" I didn't really feel good. So, I started thinking about the debt I have and how I acquired these "bills" to began with. I realized that I was given a privilege to enjoy and pay later. Now, when I talk about the debt or the bills that I have, I refer to them as "privileges to be reimbursed". I started thinking about other words I hear people say in not such a positive way. Take the word "job" for instance. I've heard the word job being referred to more negatively than positively. I have even heard job being described as meaning "just over broke." I decided to give job a new meaning: joyous opportune blessing!
Speak positive! Think about what you are saying when you speak. When you are talking about something, pay attention to how you are feeling. Is what you are saying helpful to or hurtful to you or someone else? There is a positive and negative way to speak. Choose to speak positively! Speaking in a positive way can only benefit you and others.
