Are You Maximizing Your Genius?

Are You Maximizing Your Genius?

After the launch of our book “Yes, You Are a Genius, Whether You Know it or Not” I was invited to several radio shows. And it never fails… the host always asks me “So, what does genius mean to you?”

Hundreds of definitions come up when you google the word ‘genius’ but none of them expresses how I’ve seen genius in others.

I've seen genius in every single person I worked with as a coach and this genius came out when they were able to get a grasp of living their best Possible Unique Self.

And this happens when...

- You live the best possible unique you.

- You contribute with your powerful creativity all day long because you know your unique view is valuable.

- You see new opportunities to express your unique capabilities every day.

- You ask for plenty of money for your unique contributions because you know you are worth it.

- You like yourself for who you are.

- You never feel embarrassed for being different because you know you unique contributions are irreplacable.

- You make mistakes without punishing yourself for them but let them genuinely expand you.

- You enjoy what you do every day no matter what it looks like in any given moment.

- You enjoy the uniqueness and difference in others because I know they complement you.

- You surround yourself with people who cheer you on to be the best possible you.

- You say no to distractions, self-doubt and negativity because you recognize them as the key saboteurs for your genius.

- You always look for new ways to challenge and develop your talents.

And finally, genius is when you take off the straight jacket you were taught to wear. This is a straight jacket that you might have become so accustomed to that it now feels like it's your own skin.

It has forced you to fit into a class room, a school system, a peer group, a business, a career…

It’s a straight jacket that’s too small and doesn’t fit but you have worn it for so long that it now feels like you. And now it might be you who feels small or just not fitting in rather than realizing that you can simply take off the straight jacket and enjoy the genius you were born to be.

Now ask yourself, how much of your genius are you living right now?

Rate the following 13 statements on a scale of 1 – 5, 5 being the highest:

- I live the best possible unique ME all the time.
- I contribute with my powerful creativity all day long because I know my unique view is valuable.
- I see new opportunities to express my unique capabilities every day.
- I ask for plenty of money for my unique talents and capabilities because I know I am worth it.
- I like myself for who I am.
- I know my strengths and capabilities and use them every day in my business and life.
- I like making mistakes because I know they expand me and help me further develop my genius.
- I enjoy what I do every day.
- I surround myself with lots of brilliant people because I know they complement me.
- I am cheered on by the people around me to live my genius full out.
- I say NO to distractions, self-doubt and negativity because I recognize them as the key saboteurs for my genius.
- I learn something new every day.
Total

The number one step to living your genius more is knowing and capitalizing on your unique talents and strengths. Those are all the things you do well and that come easy to you. Most people dismiss these talents or take them for granted.

Do the first step today to living your genius more and write down a list of at least 10 things that you do well. Then ask 3 people who know you well from different areas of your life - it could be a close family member, a business partner and a trusted friend - to tell you what strengths and exceptional talents they see in you. Add these strengths and talents to your list. Now read through this list every day and make it a point to plan one activity that deliberately expresses one strengths for every single day.
