The "I's" Have It-Insight & Influence

Consider your good name. Can it seal a deal like a handshake?

Test your influence quotient with your virtual handshake.

Are you accountable? Do people recognize that?

Where has that power gone? My perspective says it has been absorbed by anonymity.

As an example, consider internet dating sites where people upload old or misleading photos and ages.

I guess they never intend to actually meet someone personally. The delight is in the "game" rather than a successful outcome.

People don't have to account for their behavior face-to-face.

Social networking is fun and exciting. However, it won't replace the personal touch.

That's why personal meetings rather than conference calls are so powerful. At least make the effort to have a personal contact first.

Then, you can more easily move into email and calls.

Here's a test question to begin your marketing plan:

"How will my prospects, clients, friends, colleagues be enriched by what I'm offering?"

The answer is steeped (like a rich tea) in your credibility.

Credibility is influence's partner. It is the powerful binding ingredient that assists people

to know if they would make a good decision to follow you or not. Whether personal or

professional (I say there is no difference; business is personal), you are offering a

virtual handshake when you contact people. Make it count.

Not by barraging people with email offers and newsletters, but with noteworthy information they can use.

How does your initial contact encourage people to want more of you?

For example, I detest when someone answers the phone and immediately asks, "Can I put you on hold?"

Why do they answer the phone in the first place if not prepared to handle it?

My personal favorite is a recorded message from a doctor's office saying to call "911" if this is an emergency!

What an insult.

So, what did you discover about your intention by answering the question—

"How will my prospects, clients, friends, colleagues be enriched by what I'm offering?"

It will help you earn your audience's attention and loyalty. When you're good name appears on something

you've sent, they know that it matters.
