Power is about having choice - the freedom to make your own decisions. Too often, people with much power are not held accountable for the choices they make. Whether it's a CEO, a world leader, a board of directors or a child, accountability lessens the likelihood of corruption.
I am often asked if I believe that women would be less corrupt than men if they held the majority of the power. My answer is that our instinct for being so tough on each other - and holding ourselves to the same standard - might just be the strength that keeps us accountable when put in powerful positions.
