We live in the most educated region in the U.S. (Boston) and produce the majority of progressive thought leaders. But, do our businesses take advantage of the diversity that surrounds us?

Having lived through the civil rights and women's movements of the 1960s and '70s and the more recent sexual-orientation lobby, it's time to embrace all who have different perspectives.

Business growth comes from attempting new ideas, and today's new ideas come from listening to diverse viewpoints. Every organization must embrace diversity to thrive in a multicultural environment.

Start celebrating diversity today. It is the future of our country.
