Did you start today with the M-I-T?

How many times do you get "sucked" into your day as soon as you step foot into your office? If you're like most small business owners, I'll bet it happens fairly often. Tugged in a dozen different directions during the course of the day, often those things that we REALLY needed to get done somehow fell to the bottom of the list.
And that's when you typically find yourself working late or feeling VERY pressured.

Make a habit of identifying the "Most Important Thing" every day. Write it at the top of your calendar, at the top of your to-do list, wherever it make sense for you.
Then attack that thing FIRST... before email, before sales calls, before you sort the mail... before ANY-thing.
Sometimes your "Most Important Thing" will be the same as your most urgent thing, but not always. Be cautious about always putting urgent before important. That's the surest way to get yourself stuck in a crisis cycle.

Why this matters...

Too often, as small business owners, our daily priorities are set by:

... whatever screetches at us the loudest,
... whoever catches us first.
... or whatever seems to pose the path of least resistance.

Putting your "Most Important Thing" first ensures that you are more strategic in how you spend your time and that your time is spent on doing that which is most impactful.

Re: Some motivation when the going gets rough Re: Some motivation when the going gets rough - Hi There, How about this, here are the ten top questions to ask yourself every day: 1. "Who do I need to say "I love you" to today?" 2. "What will I do today to insure I remain at the highest level of health possible, now and in the future?" 3. "What am I most grateful for right now?" 4. "What 3 actions must I take today to meet my daily, weekly, monthly, annual, ten year and life long goals? 5. "Who needs to hear from me today?" 6. "What new things will I learn today?" 7. "Whose life can I influence for good today?" 8. "What am I doing today to generate an above average income?" 9. "What am I doing today to create an eternal legacy?" 10. "What is happening today that will be so important that I must record it in my journal?" I have seen this somewhere and I tweaked it a little. In order we are able to say: "Never give up!" , one has need to start something. Be blessed
