The productivity problem...

If you've been concerned about the impact your personal productivity is having on your business, you are not alone...

Today's small business owners are complaining about time-related pressures more than ever, saying that there's simply no way possible that they could EVER complete everything that's expected of them.

In this Quick Tip series, I'll be sharing lots of ways that you can make sure that the time you're spending in your business has maximum impact.

I promise that these emails will ALWAYS be a quick read. Some of the ideas I'll share are simply intended to get you thinking. Most will be things you can implement immediately.

What is productivity?

But here's where we begin... when you boil productivity down to its very core essence, there are two factors that come into play:
1) You can increase the VALUE of what you're doing...

2) OR you can decrease the amount of TIME you spend doing it.

Why this matters...

Simply by examining these two things - over and over - in what you do during the day or over the course of doing business, you'll gain new insight into what your time is really worth... and how you may be able to make what you do feel more impactful.

Re: The Top 50 Productivity Blogs Of The Year Re: The Top 50 Productivity Blogs Of The Year - Hi Evan, I've just noticed this resource in my search for your previous "Top 50" blog list... Yes, productivity can be a real problem with an online business, especially when you are juggling other jobs as well. Another point is that if you run a small online business that sells physical goods and you have to pack and post them in response to every order... the more orders you get the less time you have for all the other jobs. So success can really slow you down until you feel ready to take on your first employee!
Re: What do think you about these statisitcs? Re: What do think you about these statisitcs? - I think those stats are very concerning. Billions of dollars in wasted man hours. You can bet corporate America and frankly international corps are all working on solving this problem. Wasted productivity is no different than wasted/stolen product at the retail level. A few percentage points one direction or another can mean the difference between profit and loss for many companies. If I were the CEO of a large corp, I'd have a team at work blocking Facebook and other social sites from all company computers, as well as unauthorized email accounts etc. Cheers, Zac
Re: What do think you about these statisitcs? Re: What do think you about these statisitcs? - You're right, the problem is smaller companies make up a large percentage of the corp world. Particularly if we are talking anything less than Fortune 100. Lots of waste. hmmmm let's see...that money is going where...yep...back to large savy corps. LOL Cheers, Zac [quote="dallasberry":g00ot74i]Most large corporations that I worked at did have site blocking enabled. I thought it was a standard.
