Small Business Coach - Why Entrepreneurs Need Routine, Structure and Focus!

Most entrepreneurs hate the idea of routines, structure and rules - that's why we're entrepreneurs right? As a small business coach, what I've noticed is that the most successful entrepreneurs actually have the capacity to use routines, structure and focus at the right time and for the right reasons (unlike bureaucrats who do rules all of the time and for all the wrong reasons!!)

So, if you are entrepreneurial in spirit and pushing against using these tools, I hope this little story may encourage you to be more creative in your routines and that you plan to be routinely creative in your business...

In 2008, a Picasso painting sold for $6.9m - the highest recorded price for a painting at auction in Australia. Why is Picasso's work so valued?

In his own words... "Everyone has the same energy potential. The average person wastes his in a dozen little ways. I bring mine to bear on one thing only: my painting..." (Picasso)

Does this change your point of view on the value of discipline and focus? If you introduce a small amount of 'flexible structure' into each aspect of your business, you will discover productivity gains you never would have thought possible. For example, you could:

o Set aside specific time / days on a regular basis for specific tasks that are essential to your business success eg marketing and lead generation.

o Put systems in place to manage expectations - of staff, suppliers and clients - so that you can have more choice about how you prioritise your time.

o Outsource non-core 'low value' work (eg administration, bookkeeping, payroll management etc) so that you can focus on what you're good at or what is most profitable.

o Create systems that encourage creativity and innovation within your business.

o Use simple rules and routines to allow more space for creative ideas to arrive - free up your mind to consider what's really important!!

The options are endless - it's time to apply some of your renowned creativity to making your business produce more with less!

Re: Business Coaching Resources Re: Business Coaching Resources - You're fortunate when you can find a Business Coach who has experience beyond where you've been and even where you are going. When your budget is slim and even after, it's good to have a mentor. Several of various backgrounds are very useful. They can be teachers, professors, pastors, business people, family members, bosses and former bosses. You have to be clear on what you want and what you desire to achieve, be able to convey it as simply as possible. Stop and listen and don't over tax their time. You should always expect results whether from a Business Coach or Mentors. If you're not gtting results, you're either not focused or you need to upgrade the quality of your mentors/coaches. Always surround yourself by people smarter than you.
My entry My entry - 1. The Best Business Books Ever: The 100 Most Influential Business Books You'll Never Have Time to Read - this is a fascinating book about the history of Business theory, and I'd recommend it to anybody. 2. PADI: The Business of Diving Book Okay, so this book won't be of use to anyone who doesn't want to start a scuba store, but I did, and this book was of course invaluable to me in reaching that goal.
Business Coaching Internship Review Business Coaching Internship Review - I joined in during the first phase of the internship and at this point we are committed to doing research and development of RSC Business Group operating in Toronto. RSC Business Group already has products and services in Coaching Small businesses in Los Angeles but we didn't want to assume that the same products were wanted and needed in the Toronto market. Our goal at this point is to commit to interviewing 1000 business owners to capture this data. Through the teleconference internship I've been involved in we've been focusing on Communication Skills and on active listening which are practiced when we conduct our interviews and Coach our clients when they come on board. This is a lot harder than it sounds! Part of the internship is also creating the Toronto RSC Business Group's departments, job descriptions, Marketing and Communication plans etc that a business owner would create for their own company. This trains us in the way we would coach a company as well. The internship is phased in two parts and there is compensation plan involved as well for the clients you personally bring in. These clients are coached directly by Robert Chun as you begin but you are given a chance to learn his techniques. I haven't gone through this experience yet though. It's hard to explain Robert Chun's method of Coaching as it happens at a psychological level in his ability to listen and question the person being coached into the next steps they need to take. The Teleconferences are 2 hours long but it's very interactive. If you have a desire to explore this area of Business I'd recommend contacting Vwodek listed above and get invited to a Coaching Conference call. You can decided then if it's for you. Note: it is a commitment but the skills you walk away with whether you plan on working with RSC Business Group or not is invaluable.
Greetings From Destiny's Door Greetings From Destiny's Door - Hi Everyone, Thanks for the invitation to introduce myself. I'm looking forward to being part of the discussions here. I called my business "Destiny’s Door Coaching" because I believe you already have everything it takes to create the business of your dreams. The door to your destiny stands always open. The choice is up to you. I work with Business Women and Entrepreneurs who want to create a life and business that matches their true potential, while still allowing them time to do the things they love most. I support them as they discover how to work smarter and not harder. I coach because I am passionate about seeing women achieve amazing things when they fully accept their own greatness. Business really gives women a great opportunity to express their passions and purpose in a way that also brings financial rewards. I believe you are highly important as the foundation of your business. As you grow and unleash your true potential, you enable your business to do the same. In fact, I'm doing that personally through my own business. I coach women and write articles inviting women to step into greater personal success. As a Certified Life Coach with a Degree in ministry, this is a perfect fit for me. On a personal level, I believe in living fully alive and making the most of every moment. I even have my own Coach! Of course, life is always a work in progress, but I keep moving forward. I do this happily in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of B.C. with my husband and two feline companions. Anyhow, I look forward to meeting you through the forum where we can challenge and inspire each other to really grow towards our full potential. Let’s really commit to creating the businesses of our dreams. I’ll meet you at Destiny’s Door! Warmly, Tami
