The Art of Creating A 'Not-to-do List' for Entrepreneurs

Guest post by: Jeneth Blackert

Article Overview: If you gave me an extra hour in the day, I would sit and be quiet, be silent and do nothing. I know it's overwhelmed with I have to do this, I have to set intentions, I've got to journal on this, I've got to go to the gym; there's just too much to have to do and not enough of I can't wait to do this.... I tell people to give themselves permission to do nothing, because that's where the beginning of reconnecting to yourself and your power happens. I have a little space in my house that's my sacred space and that's where I come to a place of nakedness, authenticity where I allow everything and anything to show up utterly and completely.

The Art of Creating A 'Not-to-do List' for Entrepreneurs

In today's times, our to-do list of things to do are getting so overwhelming that I tell people to have a not-to-do list. If you gave me an extra hour in the day, I would sit and be quiet, be silent and do nothing.

And -- tn that area I listen to the different kind of music. I do not turn on the radio. I do not turn on the news or the TV, because when I hear fear, I feel fear. When I watch fear, it's not surprising I'm going to be fearful for the rest of my day. I'm very particular on what I listen to.

I always have candles burning, first thing in the morning, last thing at night, because it's just an element of light for me. It's a symbolic thing for me, whether it's at work, in a meeting.

I honor my body. I'm very particular. One of my sacred pillars is just really honoring my body with what I eat and what I drink and how much water because I know that's doing so much for me; that's my vehicle.

I do work on things where I feel that I am part of giving and serving, and so I would say to people, not that they need to change their jobs, but when you find ways of giving, it's really hard to feel bad about yourself or bad about your day. It just is. It's that part of you to know is there to give.

I do set intentions I think I mentioned that. The thing I want to say about intentions, because I'm sure other people have mentioned it probably on this series as well is that we sort of forget that we can say certain things and we can activate people, places, events, synchronicities to cross our paths. Some people call it luck. Some people call it intentions.

I set an intention before every interview, every meeting, everything. I'm setting probably five, six, eight, 10 intentions a day. It takes me maybe 10 seconds, but as part of the intentions I'm always saying may this meeting serve my highest and best growth. May I come to a place where I can love and serve in any way that I can.

I'm always including my highest and best growth the way life sees it. I'm not saying I want this deal, I want this funding, and I want this thing to go really well.

It's not personal will and it's not ego.

Whatever happens happens... it could be the worst phone call in the world; if that's what I needed for my highest and best growth, I welcome it up.

Breathe and be present for greater wealth and growth.

Re: Can you outsource your product launch? Re: Can you outsource your product launch? - Yes that what I am talking about. Creating a buzz for your online product launch basically. Is this part of what you do?
Re: Email autoresponder messages: what delivery intervals? Re: Email autoresponder messages: what delivery intervals? - Sub-lists are primarily created around the products I own. If my list A was about one topic, I will not promote anything to that list about another topic until I first have them opt-in to another list. Example of this is, let's say you were interested in internet marketing and you opted-in to a list for driving traffic (List A). I will not send information about product creation tips to that list unless I first have you opt-in for another list (List B). These two may be close enough so that might not be an issue, but what I find is most internet marketers drive all their promotions to their one and only list they own. So one day, it's about teaching mom-pop offline businesses about marketing, another day about oh let's market on Facebook, next day about, hey I found great product on promoting stuff on Mobile or cell phones, next week, let's talk about Amazon's Kindle, then Pinterest... You get what I mean. If I have to do above, it will be after subscribers decided not to buy any of my own products. Then I will send other promos to that list. But I think by minimum, it's good to create sub-lists for buyers of your own products so that you can send more advanced and higher end items exclusive to that list.
CEOs and Email - Slaves? CEOs and Email - Slaves? - I wonder if the emails they are responding to are filtered thru their assistants first 'cos they seem to spend a lot of their off hours responding to them. True they are successful but I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay that price. I'd be interested to know what's the in the typical day planner of Entrepreneurs on the Forum. Entrepreneurs are a different breed than Paid Employees- so it would be interesting to view the contrast.
Re: Social Media & Digg, Google, MySpace, and YouTube Re: Social Media & Digg, Google, MySpace, and YouTube - Hi Kathy, What I meant about it being worth it was in the sense that I described. Creating multiple accounts for various sites and posting and ranking your own stuff. It's very time consuming to say the least. I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there that has done this and thinks it's beneficial.
