It's Not the Economy - It's Your Attitude!
Some would say that we are in a "down economy" and while that may certainly be true for some industries, I believe the real truth is that it is NOT the economy. It's our attitude!
A couple of years ago, I wrote an article called "We Are What We Think About". I believed it then and I believe it now. And, I would add that our success is directly proportional to the positive OR negative thoughts swirling around in our heads. Even when times seem tough, it is our attitude, our point of view that makes all the difference between succeeding and failing. I refuse to buy into the myth that "no one is buying". That seems an easy excuse for some not willing to dig in and do the hard work, or those succumbing to their inner fears of scarcity.
Here's #1 Tip: Shift your thinking when times are tough, believe in yourself and what you have to offer, and close your ears to the noise of the pessimistic attitudes that could threaten what you want to achieve. A shift in thinking also means that you must be willing to be creative, look for new approaches to selling your products or services, perhaps work harder and stay focused like never before.
In the June edition of Selling Power Magazine, Scott Lindsey of Besam Entrance Solutions had this to say: "We have a sales force that, for 10 years, has not had to work hard, just go after the low hanging fruit." Now, with economic changes affecting their business, Lindsey tells his people that "they've got to roll up their sleeves; now it's going to be hard work." He adds: "Lots of younger salespeople do not understand that. Anybody can sell when things are really good." I couldn't have said it better myself. The true measure of your abilities shines through when you rise above the tough times to accomplish what you decide you want!
Look, don't get me wrong. I know gas prices are ridiculous, I know that we've had serious problems in the mortgage industry, which in turn is affecting other businesses AND at the same time I've heard from a number of people in those industries that they are still succeeding. Throughout history there have been down times and there have always been people who've succeed in spite of "the down economy". I choose to be one of those people! What about you? The author of the best selling book Harmonic Wealth, James Arthur Ray, says, "Live from the outcome!" So what outcome will you live from? Will you be wildly successful by refusing to believe in the fears propagated by others, or be too scared to even give it a try?

Re: What to do at the first roadblock?
- Upon first discouragement, dig in and see if things are as they seem. Sometimes, even though there are several products out there that appear comparable, they are no match. Maybe they do don't a good job of what they are intended for, or maybe there are several glitches in their system, or perhaps their customer service just plain stinks. Decide how you can "one up" all of these things and decide that you are going to create a better product that more people would want. Attitude is 95% of the battle. If you feel defeated before you've done any research on any of the other products, you're doing yourself a huge disservice. Give yourself a chance and see if you can be the BEST in every way. This will get you far no matter what the venture.
Re: Who hates cold calling?
- About 15 years ago I worked for this sales company that used to sell anything from Kitchen Knives to Dry Cell Torches. The owner was a very motivating guy and he would ask us to get to the office by 7.00AM and we could sing and dance for an hour before we went to sell the products in the streets, stopping anyone and telling them our products were on discount. We used to sell snow to Eskimos, why were we able to do that? because of PMA (Positive Mental Attitude). The key to cold calling is like beauty, in eyes of the beholder. If you have no PMA, you cannot sell. Remember the law of average that states that if you went to a dance and every girl or guy you approached for a dance decline your proposal. What do you do? Do you stop? If you have a PMA, you continue until you get one person who agree to dance with you despite how ugly you look, that is is PMA and that is the power of cold calling.

Hi Again Ethical,
Thank you for your reply, I live in the UK and don’t have a product as such to sell like you but I am an Internet Marketer and owner of the ‘Work From Home Gems’ site below.
I specialise in finding and recommending different ways to make money on the internet as an affiliate. I very much enjoy working in this sector and hope to work full time from home in the future.
Don’t forget to set up your signature as recommended by GT above as this is a simple way to ad the URL of your website and this will show on every post you make,
best wishes,

Howdy (Hi and How do you do,in Texan):
I'm currently working from home, and with My lifelong ltd. business experience(which is not as limited ,As I humbly stated ,I hope to utilize (utilise in British English),some knowledge to help me be somewhat successful.('California is a "brand new game" to many outsiders, inc. a West Texan ,like me,but I somehow managed above expectations).
My ambition at this stage of my life(being formally retired),isn't like when I was younger, and accomplished a lot,'way beyond my ltd. means', as I met with a lot of small and big successes,as I didn't had the luxarious option of losing or failing,in order to survive,I had to'make it'.
In today's USA Economy and it's negative implications on all of retirees(pensioners) and disabled folks,
It became vital to be able to function with some amount of success...or face hunger,if not worse,in the USA we have a 'nation' of homeless folks, that are unaided.most of them are either disabled,or 'senior citizens',or both. so failure is not an option, currently I live in Southern California, which is controlled by an inhumane and dishonest Reublican governor, that cut income from both disabled, and the aged disabled(With false excuses) .while cost of subsisting here is skyrocketing without price controls.so any ltd. additional income is a 'blessings'.Our country economy,as the whole world is already aware is continue to fall,(I was extremely surprised, like many others) that our country borrowed huge amounts not only from its allies(like the UK of GB, UAE,Kuwait etc.) but also from the P.R. of China(ain't it amazing,it's the greatest 'accomplishment' of the previous Bush administtration),It was done prior to our current wonderful president Obama times,But Obama administration was really honest and transparent about these facts, and additionally acted in the best interests of our country, and improved our country situation so dramatically,so at least we're hopefull. The Praises that our current administration deserves are long.Folks like me try to cease any opportunity to survive ,I'm not aiming to'make a killing' but just survive the onslought ,and 'so far so good',I already started on my own to reach to local pro.(professional)folks, that I had the pleasure to know, and there are real hopes,I already sold on my own 1st ltd. batch of 'virgin'(only one time used) 'empties' (Empty ink cartridges),and even earn already a minor sum of 'income',and time'll tell.My honest belief is just as long as one could act rationally there 're hopes for positive results. Thanks for support and advice,I may put the website into my signature a little later, meanwhile ,I'm so busy just 'to keep my head above waters'.Thanks again.
