Skyrocket Your Coaching Business: Build a Business Model that Supports Your Desired Lifestyle
No man is an island. Work only in your strengths and find the people to help you do those things that are not strengths for you right now.
Some of these ideas are for people who are a little further along, but in the beginning I had a coach. I had a marketing coach and I was going through my coach training. It helped me to grow and really played a key role in my growth.
Then I added a virtual assistant, and that doubled my income. Then I moved to a coach at an even higher level and higher marketing program, and that doubled my income. Then I added another virtual assistant, and I kept growing and growing. There's a pattern here. Plan to work with people that are going to support you and can really help you in growing a team.
A virtual assistant (VA) is someone who provides administrative support to you who works from a remote location, almost always their home. They can specialize in marketing support, web services, whatever it is you have hired that particular VA to do for you. They are contractors, so you don't have to have employees. They're a remote professional who works within your business.
I like to work with people who are experts in their areas, so I tend to work with several different virtual assistants. I choose people who really excel in their particular field and use them for those particular tasks and project management.
It's the key to service professional business - anybody who's going to run a service-oriented business where you're delivering coaching, consulting, or training, anything like that. They're lifesavers because you don't need an office for them, and they can do everything for you that an in-house assistant can do.
Create a business model that supports your lifestyle.
You must from the start create a business model that supports your life and your desired freedom. If you don't, before you know it the business is going to be running you.
A strong business model is layered with growth and financial opportunities that don't require your supervision and presence to generate revenue. That's what I teach with the multiple streams of income model. It's really important because you need things that don't involve you to make money.
Sometimes you have to do things old school and learn the hard way. I'm a perfect example of that. In the beginning I worked really hard to create a business, and before I knew it I just had another job.
I was only working with one-on-one clients, it's hard work, and every dollar I made was dependent on those hours. When I shifted that model and offered other products and programs that didn't have to involve me it made a huge difference.
I like to preach that from the beginning so you're thinking about the future, "What can I have besides clients? Can I have programs? Can I have an audio series? Can I have something on tape that families can listen to in their car? What are other streams of income that I can create?"
Building your team and developing additional streams of income that don't rely on your involvement, are key to the success and longevity of your coaching business.

Re: Franchise 'due diligence' checklist
- One of the things I focus on is this:
Does the Franchise fit the Business Model you are interested in?
Meaning, are you going to be doing what you want to do on a daily? For example, if you are a restaurant manager now and you hate your job because of the hours, then don't buy most food franchises. You have experience of course, so it is more comfortable, but you will basically be doing very similar duties and hours as you were before.
I always go through a series of questions, answers, more questions, more answers etc... to help my clients figure out what Business Model they are most interested in, I do this before even discussing a single name with them, they tell me what the business model is and then I match them up to that type of business, explain the entire business model as best I can and then and only then do we discuss the name of the company. Too many times people come to me wanting to own "abc" name brand franchise, when they don't even understand what type of business it really is and what they will be doing every day.

Exclusive: Interview with Results
- Hi Forum Members,
I'm helping start up a Business Coaching and Consulting company here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (a Subsidiary of RSC Business in Los Angeles).
As a Research and Development Intern I am required to practice my listening and interview skills by surveying Small and Medium Businesses on thier Business.
This Survey is designed by RSC Business to also assist the Business being interviewed more insight into their own business.
I am looking to interview about 30 businesses across North America over the span of 3 months.
At the end of these interviews I will be publishing a report of the results and they will be made available for free to the Interviewees. The Report data will include responses from a minimum of 100 interviews.
I would like to extend this opportunity to members of the Forum.
If you would like to have this short 20-30 minute interview conducted on your Business and you reside in North America please send me an email or PM.
Please contact me at andy[at]jvprosperity[dot]com to arrange our interview and to get free access to the results when they are published.

Business Coaching Internship Review
- I joined in during the first phase of the internship and at this point we are committed to doing research and development of RSC Business Group operating in Toronto.
RSC Business Group already has products and services in Coaching Small businesses in Los Angeles but we didn't want to assume that the same products were wanted and needed in the Toronto market. Our goal at this point is to commit to interviewing 1000 business owners to capture this data.
Through the teleconference internship I've been involved in we've been focusing on Communication Skills and on active listening which are practiced when we conduct our interviews and Coach our clients when they come on board. This is a lot harder than it sounds!
Part of the internship is also creating the Toronto RSC Business Group's departments, job descriptions, Marketing and Communication plans etc that a business owner would create for their own company. This trains us in the way we would coach a company as well.
The internship is phased in two parts and there is compensation plan involved as well for the clients you personally bring in. These clients are coached directly by Robert Chun as you begin but you are given a chance to learn his techniques. I haven't gone through this experience yet though.
It's hard to explain Robert Chun's method of Coaching as it happens at a psychological level in his ability to listen and question the person being coached into the next steps they need to take.
The Teleconferences are 2 hours long but it's very interactive. If you have a desire to explore this area of Business I'd recommend contacting Vwodek listed above and get invited to a Coaching Conference call. You can decided then if it's for you.
Note: it is a commitment but the skills you walk away with whether you plan on working with RSC Business Group or not is invaluable.
