I recently spoke at a Live your dream marriage event on May 9th. It was an
amazing day; I think I got the most out of it. The highlight was an art
workshop, that's right an art workshop. Let me explain briefly, a common
practice with children that are slow learners or are not good communicators is
to have them doodle when talking. For some reason the mind is able to unclog or
open up when talking and drawing.
In the workshop they used the same principal to help open up communication
with couples. The instructor helped us to draw some squiggles and then make a
picture out of it, with a story. Allow me to share my story of The True Colors
of struggle.
I was able to find a fish in my maze of squiggles and so I colored it in
bright shades while it was surrounded by dark brown seaweed, the seaweed of
life shall we say. What my fish realized is that its colors shined brighter
when it was next to the seaweed. By embracing the seaweed that seems to hold us
back from getting promoted, expanding our businesses or basically covering us
up, we are able to let our True Colors shine to the world.
The key here is to embrace the struggle. Why? Because it’s going to come,
period. It’s a 100% guarantee that you will struggle at times in your life.
It‘s like death, people are so afraid of death yet it’s the one thing you know
with total certainty that it will happen. Let’s get back to embracing the
struggle. As the #1 Online Life Coach I have some ultra successful high end
clients and one of the most popular questions is: Evan, why is it so
hard? My answer is why is it so hard for them to understand that the
struggle is what brings out the greatness. The struggle in the gym is what
makes the champion athlete, the struggle in the cocoon is what properly
develops the butterfly’s wings, the struggle in refining Gold and Diamonds is
what makes these stones so precious.
So if you’re struggling in the corporate world, trying to get promoted and
blaming the seaweed for holding you back or if you’re a business owner or CEO
blaming the seaweed for such a lousy economy then stop right now. Step up and
face the challenge, embrace it and overcome it. If you live in the ocean then
seaweed is a part of life.
