BRAND LEADERSHIP COACHING
A business owner posed this situation to me one day: "My company's brand of apparel is well known in the market place for the last 10 years but is fast losing out to the "younger" and trendier brands entering the market. I know if I don't do anything about it, I may soon lose out to them. What shall I do?"
As a business coach, this is what I will share with her: "Your situation is rather common. Many companies expect their long established brand name to do "magic" for them and have this wrong thinking that the longer they have been there, the better it gets. However, brand leadership needs to be sustained. Just like a tree that needs nourishment, care and protection against the many external elements and forces in the environment, brands also need sustainability in order to stay on top of competition."
Here are some tips:
1) Always find new ways of providing new benefits to your customers. Do your research and have your ears to the ground to understand their changing needs and meet them.
2) Work your products towards superiority over your competitors and make them difficult to imitate.
3) Find the best way to communicate these compelling benefits to your customers.
Ask some of these powerful questions:
1) What are your customers asking you to do that you have not done yet?
2) What cost effective ways can you think of to meet their new needs?
3) How can you ensure that what you want to provide will put you on top of the game?
4) What can you still do to ensure your brand stays at the top, always?
