Putting Life in Vision Statement
Question to the Coach...
"We do not have a vision statement and do not believe in having one. I've seen it being hung meaninglessly on the walls of many organizations. What is it supposed to do? Isn't it a stale effort, or is it done as a matter of routine because others are doing it? What is the coaching perspective on this issue?"
The Coach's reflection...
There is some truth about meaningless vision statements being formulated by organizations during meetings, which will never be put into practice or revisited. I guess that goes the same with everything in life, when passion and interest wither away.
But when a company's vision statement is well- framed to represent the voice, aspiration and values of the people within the organization, it has powerful effects.
More so when this is a key platform to communicate to all as it guides their actions and paves a common pathway for all to follow.
You can make it come alive for you.
Isn't this meaningful and powerful for you?
Powerful Questions:
- What is the purpose of your organization?
- How can you powerfully express it?
- How can you communicate this?
- How can you keep it in the forefront of everyone's mind?
- How can you keep it alive all the time?
