How to Achieve The Success That Has Eluded You In The Past (part 2)
Part 1 showed you to decide what you want, have a plan and support system in place, take daily focused action, and change the way that you think. Here are 5 more ideas tolead you toachieving what you want.
- 1) Use affirmations and visualization. Both of these activities control and condition our subconscious mind to help us achieve what we want. Our current view of the world is based on what has happened to us up until now. Our future view we can create for ourselves using these affirmations and visualization. If we bombard our subconscious mind with thoughts and images of what we want our lives to be like, it will work to make this our current reality. The power of our subconscious mind is one of the most under-utilized success tools that we have. We can change anything in our lives by changing how we think.
- 2) Be clear on what your priorities are. Your actions need to be in alignment with your priorities. This is what balance is. Constantly check these. If you don't know what they are, everything becomes a priority and overwhelm sets in.
- 3) Persist until you succeed. This is one of the greatest principles of success. If you persist long enough, you will succeed. I take a powerful lesson in persistence from Abraham Lincoln. He failed at everything for his whole life. Yet at age 60, went on to become one of the greatest Presidents our country has ever known. WOW!
- 4) Constantly be learning and growing. Do you study and practice and do the work that's required to be who you want? Or do you take it for granted? A regular discipline of daily reading and study will help you close the skills and knowledge gap between where you are and where you want to be.
- 5) Hire a coach. You may think that this is self serving, but hold on. I have a coach. Two in fact. My coaches have coaches. Tiger Woods has a coach or two. And he is one of the greatest golfers in the world. A coach can help you see things more clearly, help you understand yourself better in terms of talents and non-talents, and can help you discover your purpose and be more focused. Having someone at your side to encourage you while you are stepping out of your comfort zone to accomplish greater things can be invaluable.
