Turn Your Resolution Into Success

Did you set your New Year's resolutions? It's that time of year that thousands or millions of people decide what it is that they want to change, or do differently. If you set a resolution last year, hold on for a minute. It's time for a checkpoint. Did you accomplish it? If you did, Congratulations! The truth is, sadly, that only 25% stick to their resolutions and accomplish what they set out to do. Case in Point: Gyms are full in January and are empty again by March.

"Why is this?" you may ask. (Especially if you are one of the 75%) There are many possibilities including not setting realistic goals, trying to change too many things, or not giving the proper thought to what actions you will need to take.

Let's look at this a little differently though, shall we? The definition of RESOLUTION is, in this context- "Firmness of Resolve". This is where, from my experience, many people fall short. Firmness of resolve is having the proper attitude for success. It is your "WHY". As in "Why do I really want to do this?"

Your firmness of resolve is rooted in emotion. It is your emotion that strengthens your desire, which in turn increases your motivation to overcome obstacles that may stand in your way of achievement. To fully take advantage of this involves understanding that as human beings we normally do things to either gain a benefit or avoid a loss.

The strongest motivation to achieve a goal comes only if you really desire the rewards of accomplishing it, or if you really want to avoid the negative consequences of not attaining it. This is what is necessary to create the attitudes necessary for success.

Here are two steps to capture this power:

First- List all of the rewards of accomplishing your goal or resolution. What will you gain? How will you benefit? Be specific, be real, be measurable to the point of being able to see success and feel it.

Second- List the consequences of not achieving your resolution. Not just the opposite of your rewards, but in terms of loss, disappointment, and other negative effects. Make sure that you can feel this too.

Your rewards and consequences will give you a powerful incentive to achieve your goal and is the foundation of your "Firmness of Resolve." By spending proper time and energy developing and thinking though these, you will be one of the fortunate 25% of people who achieve what they set out to!

Re: New Year Resolutions... Re: New Year Resolutions... - My New Years Resolution is to be earning $500+ with my online business. This includes any freelance work that I do. I'm about half-way there now. Another Resolution is to look into selling more on eBay and maybe finding a reputable dropshipper that offers competitive pricing on high-demand items. I like eBay and the opportunity that it provides. I've mainly been selling personal items, but I'd like to start tapping into a larger market and making some significant income on eBay.

And when you're selling items on eBay from a reputable dropshipper... do you think it's still important to pick a product you're passionate about (like what an entrepreneur would normally do when starting a business)? Or is it just about moving a popular item for profit on eBay?

I would say yes, pick products that you have an interest in. That's the best option if you're going to like what you do. Hopefully you can find a balance between products you're interested in and products that are in high demand.
Re: Ways to Boost Productivity Re: Ways to Boost Productivity - 1. Give Employees More Than a Paycheck 2. Provide Better eSupport Channels to Promote Self-Service 3. Complete your most dreaded tasks first thing in the morning. 4. Outsource as much as possible 5. . Turn off the TV.
On Escalade On Escalade - I've seen the ad for "Turn you on" on TV here in Toronto but not the others. Yeah my girlfriend liked that ad too and started telling me wouldn't it be great to have one, I had to quickly remind her that one of the reasons we moved downtown was so that we could get rid of the car and plus we don't have a parking space for it. Honestly, I was seriously considering it.
