Efficiency vs. Effectiveness: Knowing the Difference Can Alter Your Marketing Results

Either as an employee or self-employed, the time we spend throughout our day can categorized in two different categories, effective or efficient. If you just took a quick glance, you probably couldn’t tell the difference. But let’s think about the actual meaning of both terms. Effectiveness is doing the thing that will eventually get you closer to your goals. Efficiency is performing a given task in the fastest and easiest way possible. Now, do you realize that one can actually give you results in a longer period of time and the other in a shorter time frame? The difference is incredible! Operating a business efficiently doesn’t necessarily mean your performance is at its best. Don’t get me wrong, efficiency is important but not unless you are applying it correctly. This goes especially for those in network marketing. If you find yourself busy all day long, you might want to evaluate the tasks being performed throughout the day. Many business entrepreneurs find themselves overwhelmed with meaningless tasks, even though they might seem beneficial. Think about it, if two people are making the same amount of money, but one does it in half the time, wouldn’t you think that this person has actually come to realize the difference in effective tasks and efficient tasks? When operating a business, whether a brick and mortar business or a business from home, efficiency is critical if the actual goal for becoming an entrepreneur was achieving freedom from long work hours. Those that have chosen network marketing as their primary business struggle with this concept every day. The information overload causes that overwhelming feeling, the feeling that every technique and strategy we learn must be applied daily. There are only a very select few that might be able to apply every lesson learned on a daily basis. But for beginner entrepreneurs, having to learn an entirely new career and apply the knowledge simultaneously becomes too much to handle. Remember the 80/20 rule: 80% of the results come from 20% of actual time and effort. We must remove those meaningless tasks throughout our day in order to concentrate on the ones that actually are going to make you money. I’ll confess, it has taken me years to understand this concept but hopefully it won’t take you as long. Verify what actual tasks are the ones that don’t make you money and set those aside until you complete the money-making tasks. If you can accomplish understanding the difference between efficiency versus effectiveness, you’ll actually enjoy being doing them! To An Easier Way of Living, Pablo Gonzalez

Starting a New Business Starting a New Business - Congratulations on the first step of deciding to create your own business. First, you have to ascertain if you are going to be selling your products or services to people or to businesses. People purchase products and services for three basic reasons: •To satisfy basic needs •To solve problems •To make themselves feel good. You have to determine which of these three categories your product or service is the solution to. Businesses, unlike individuals, buy products and services for three reasons as well: •To increase revenues •To maintain the status quo •To decrease expenses. Knowing the reasons why people/businesses buy, you should have a picture emerging of who you think your "Target Market" (or ideal customer) is. Once you have zeroed in on your solution, you are ready to create your Marketing Strategy. If you look at any company that has grown rapidly over the past few years, (i.e. WestJet and Starbucks), it should demonstrate to you the importance of Marketing. In simple terms these companies have: •Clearly defined what makes them different; •Who their ideal customer is; •How to reach them; •Why customers should buy from them; •And most importantly why customers should come back again. It is strong Marketing Awareness that singles out the best companies. I can not stress enough how important it is to create a "living" Marketing Plan before you even start. I hope this helps a little in the creation of your plan. All the very best of luck. Remember: "A Goal without a Plan is just a Wish" Miles of Smiles, Marketing Maven

In the past, there's been some interest voiced about adding a "Social Media Marketing", "Online Marketing", "Internet Marketing" or "Online Promotion" category. I'll implement [u:1g2tv6tf]ONE[/u:1g2tv6tf] of those new categories, but can someone first tell me what the difference would be between the existing "Marketing" section and one of those new options mentioned above? Thanks
