The key to having a profitable online business is to know exactly how to use personal branding to build a rapport with those seeking a solution to reaching their goals. Personal branding allows for many advantages over the competition of the many other online marketers competing for the #1 position in numerous search engines. With online marketing, there's one thing that many still do not understand. The majority of people are not looking to become business owners. Their biggest desire is to find a solution to their most sought after problem, more money. If you can create a relationship with those seeking a solution and provide them the confidence they need in finding a solution, then there's no doubt that you will be the person that so many individuals are looking for online. Your goal should be to become a leader yourself and lead others to success.

Personal branding allows for building confidence in the eyes of your prospects. With them knowing that you are the person that can provide them solutions to their #1 problem, individuals realize that you are the person of knowledge and value that will guide them to reaching their goal. For example: If you are looking through the internet for a solution to making more money, the first thing you are going to run into are millions of business opportunities offering you the so-called "Best Business Ever". Now if you think about it, what would actually make you join such a business opportunity? If you had a choice of working one-on-one with someone that will help you along your journey of reaching your goal or join a business which in order for you to be successful you would have to learn the hard way and sink or swim, which would you choose? Your answer should have been working directly with someone that has already built the knowledge that is needed to become successful.

Personal branding also allows for separating yourself from the herd of other online marketers that are concentrating on only marketing their business model. With the millions of business opportunities online that a person can join, the amount of competition a new online marketing entrepreneur will have to overcome will be overwhelming. Fortunately, the use of personal branding allows you to stray away from your competition and allow you to target the actual needs of those seeking to make extra money. This technique has been used for years but only by a very few amount of online marketers. And if you did the research, these are the marketers that are actually successful and are generating multiple streams of income through online marketing, without having to mention their business opportunity.

Becoming the solution provider should be your only marketing model. Look to establish an online presence for yourself that will allow others to find you and get to know exactly how you can help them. Learn the one of many techniques, SEO (search engine optimization), and dominate the first page on search results for specific needs of individuals. This way, when a person actually looks for a solution to their problem, you will be the one to provide it to them. As one of my great mentors explained to me, "Become the hunted, not the hunter." Forum Marketing Yahoo Answers (I need to use more of) SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Bum Marketing or Article marketing P-P-C (Pay Per Click) Marketing Online Directories Hope this helps.

Those are all just "internet marketing" as far as I am concerned. And I normally would have voted for internet marketing, however I chose social media marketing simply because there are more than enough IM forums out there already.
