Do I need to be computer literate to make money on the internet ?

The short answer is YES.You do need to be computer literate if you want to get involved with an internet based business. The good news is that you can become computer literate in a few short weeks. Lets say that you really want to work from home generating an income from the internet and that you don't have any computer skills at all. What would the required actions be for you to become a successful internet business person ? First off ,take the first step of acquiring a laptop and internet access. If you already have these then you are one step ahead! Next, ask n friend where the ON button for that 'thing' is....:) Ask the same friend to get you connected to the internet and start your journey by going to the Google website and do a search for things like : "windows training courses" or " how to use a PC " or " windows XP training" or "how to use a PC" You will find millions of results.Visit a few of them and follow the instructions until you become computer literate. This process should not take longer than 3 - 4 weeks.Once you know how to switch on your PC and how to do a few other things ,like doing a search on the internet ,then you are ready to explore some internet based business opportunities ! Your next step would be to find a system that teach you how to start your online business step by step and also maintain and grow it.You can find such a system by once again going to Google and do a search for something like "internet marketing education" The nice thing is that if you are reading this article ,then you already know how to find things on the internet and that the only thing left is to find the right system to plug into. Become computer literate today and start your internet based business tomorrow ,the internet is a gold field waiting to be mined!

Everyone has different skillsets Everyone has different skillsets - Hi Kevin It totally depends on the persons confidence with handling the technical side of the business such as web hosting. For example I tend to make a profit of $50 - $100 a year for handling one of my clients (business management industry) web hosting requirements. However if I didn't help him out he would most certainly spend more than $50 - $100 of his time during the year trying to figure out FTP settings, name servers, configuration options etc so it's more economical for him to pay a little extra and not have to worry about it. It's also something that differs from person to person and the industry they are working in. If the person is computer literate and are confident in learning new technical skills on the computer I would be confident they could handle their own web hosting etc and I know of entrepreneurs who do this. For me, I would say I am the same when it comes to servicing my vehicle. If I had to do it myself I could save a little extra money but it's not worth the risk that I could do something wrong and have to spend more time fixing the problem I created. I'd rather just pay someone a little extra to do the job efficiently and correctly.
How will an african make money truely on the net? How will an african make money truely on the net? - Please permit me to be bais as regards this topic but it is pain in the heart for me and many others. Internet is a worldwide thing but if anyone wil notice that it is very difficult to make money on the internet for an african people due to segregation and discrimination in the world of internet. If you are an africa infopreneur, you have your product or you are affiliate to a company, you cannot easily get money due to the problems the internet payment processors company would pose to africans. Take a look at e-gold for instance now, you cannot easily use them as a payment processor because many who have money in the account cannot access the money because you have to submit your tax id or something like that. Africans are not allowed to use paypal to receive money but can only spend. These are some of ways that africans are not allowed fully to operate well on the internet.
Re: How long can you stay away from your Computer? Re: How long can you stay away from your Computer? - [quote="ideasuniversity":3ss78dep]David had just returned from vacation and he stayed away from his computer for 10 days. How long can you stay away from your Computer? If I don't touch my laptop in a day I might be sick. It is like food to me, which I can't do without for too long[/quote:3ss78dep] Personally, I'd prefer being able to use my computer (or at least someone else's) to check my email at least once a day. I think at one time, my home internet broke down for about 5-10 days... and while it was difficult to bear with at first, I think a person can be weaned off computer/internet usage. I wonder what's harder: quitting smoking or internet use?
Re: Web turns 20 years old today Re: Web turns 20 years old today - This is seriously scary! I remember having a green screen computer with 20mb of space (harddrive) and 4mb memory in 1986 (that was a lot in those days.) The internet existed but there was no WWW nor mice, nor pics, vids, audio and all the other things that actually make up the internet these days. Oh why did you have to remind me of those days¿
Re: Is it worth buying a Dell computer with financing? Re: Is it worth buying a Dell computer with financing? - hi BuzzAroundBooks, There are many options available to businesses and personal these days for financing and buying, however, buying a $500 computer is one thing, the kind of support you will recieve if that computer goes down is another. Several things which catch people on the support is, how far from your home is the nearest service centre? sure they will sell you a computer anywhere, but they will not service everywhere, this is probably the most important thing i woudl look into, price is a factor sure, and yes, less software, less cost and with the piracy rules of taking a XP or Vista from one machine to another is ridiculous but it is how they make their money. The support when your machine fails by a component in that system i would seek to find first and having worked with corporate support on behalf of Dell, IBM, Lexmark and several others, i would check this information PRIOR to clicking submit, if you can not find the information, call them because if your computer goes down and you must send it away for several weeks, costing you money to get a loan machine for a couple of hundred dollars, woudl then mean paying a little more in the immediate future will save money and heachaches later.
