Don’t Neglect This Part of Your Business

If you’ve been so busy working in your business that you have forgotten about yourself, it’s time to stop and assess the situation.

Taking care of your business includes taking care of you! Think about it, if you’re run down and exhausted how effective can you be?

It will require time to take care of yourself, I know – you don’t have any extra time. But it is costing you time when you continue to push yourself and neglect your needs.

It’s the many small ways you neglect yourself that when added up can become a really big weight on your shoulders. And if you live with that big weight for a long period of time, you may start to feel the life draining out of you.

This is similar to continuing to try to cut down a tree with a dull saw versus taking time out to sharpen the saw (Stephen Covey’s 7th Habit of Highly Effective People) and thereby cutting down the tree faster and easier than using the dull saw.

We all seek a balanced life and the truth is that some periods will require that you work more than other times. The one thing to commit to, even when you are busy, is to taking care of you – the business owner. Without whom, there may be no business.

What can you do today, right now, to start taking care of yourself? Here are some ideas to get you going:

- Take small, frequent breaks throughout the day

- Ask for help if you’re stuck (someone you know probably knows the answer)

- Outsource/Delegate more

- Take time to eat a healthy breakfast and lunch

- Engage in some kind of physical activity on a regular basis

- Take at least one day, out of a seven day week, to do nothing but fun stuff and recharge your batteries

So while it may seem simplistic to make some small changes, just because it is simple doesn’t mean it is easy. So is it worth the effort? Absolutely!

Think about the price you, and your business, are paying by not taking care of yourself. And consider how much more profitable (and happy) you would be if you did take better care of yourself.

What difference would it make in your life and business if you were to make some changes like the ones mentioned above? Why not try it for a month and find out? If it doesn’t work you can always go back to your old ways.

Make a decision to take extremely good care of yourself. Knowing that when you do, you will be a more effective and profitable business owner and hopefully have a lot more fun!

Business Coaching Internship Review Business Coaching Internship Review - I joined in during the first phase of the internship and at this point we are committed to doing research and development of RSC Business Group operating in Toronto. RSC Business Group already has products and services in Coaching Small businesses in Los Angeles but we didn't want to assume that the same products were wanted and needed in the Toronto market. Our goal at this point is to commit to interviewing 1000 business owners to capture this data. Through the teleconference internship I've been involved in we've been focusing on Communication Skills and on active listening which are practiced when we conduct our interviews and Coach our clients when they come on board. This is a lot harder than it sounds! Part of the internship is also creating the Toronto RSC Business Group's departments, job descriptions, Marketing and Communication plans etc that a business owner would create for their own company. This trains us in the way we would coach a company as well. The internship is phased in two parts and there is compensation plan involved as well for the clients you personally bring in. These clients are coached directly by Robert Chun as you begin but you are given a chance to learn his techniques. I haven't gone through this experience yet though. It's hard to explain Robert Chun's method of Coaching as it happens at a psychological level in his ability to listen and question the person being coached into the next steps they need to take. The Teleconferences are 2 hours long but it's very interactive. If you have a desire to explore this area of Business I'd recommend contacting Vwodek listed above and get invited to a Coaching Conference call. You can decided then if it's for you. Note: it is a commitment but the skills you walk away with whether you plan on working with RSC Business Group or not is invaluable.
