ASK - A Magic Little Word For Every Online Entrepreneur Who Wants To Get Wealthy

It has been said that experience is a good teacher, but that she wastes her knowledge on old men. That is so true.

Right now I am looking at a copy of a small Oxford English-Chinese dictionary, a souvenir of a business trip to Shanghai. Now for those of you who don’t know; English is not widely spoken in China, although Shanghai is somewhat of an exception due to its colonial past. I discovered that upon my arrival, when I realized that I was going to have (to put it mildly) a challenging time language-wise. So my first goal was to find a Starbucks outlet, where the crew would definitely speak some English, and find out where the nearest bookstore was so I could get myself a dictionary.

Sure, they gave me some verbal instructions, but I failed to locate the bookstore and no-one on the street could understand me, so I went back to Starbucks. This time I got myself some written directions in Mandarin. By approaching some friendly-looking passers-by for directions I eventually located the store, only to find that the staff there could not speak English either!

So back to Starbucks I went, this time obtaining a piece of paper explaining, in Mandarin, that I wanted a dictionary. Success at last! An amusing little experience, but so relevant to network marketing. The moral of the story? Don’t be afraid to ask.

If you are an inexperienced online entrepreneur there is some much you don’t know, so much to learn. Many people experience a type of sensory overload in the beginning. I did. But, instead of asking for help, they have this notion of doing everything by themselves. How silly!

I am not suggesting that you abdicate. This is still your business. You want to become financially free, so it’s only right that you put in some effort. But for heaven’s sake…there is so much help available! Let me give you a few pointers:

- Use the search engines to find information. In this context Google really is your friend. Simply type in the question the way you would put it when asking someone in person! I recently forgot a small technical detail and Google referred me to the relevant section on page 87 in a textbook I’ve written myself!

- Buy as many relevant training courses as you can. Knowledge will cost you, but ignorance is even worse. Long before the Internet I spent the equivalent of two years’ salary to do a full-time MBA, because I needed the knowledge at that time. By comparison, a $37 e-book is free.

- Participate in forums, such as BetterNetworker.com. Put your questions and concerns out there to the community members.

- Ensure that your service providers have proper (preferably 24/7) help desks and use that liberally. That’s what you are paying for.

I could go on and on but I think you ‘get my drift’. Everything you need to know is out there, and there are thousands of people that have already attained some network marketing success or technical expertise and are more than willing to help. You just have to ASK.
