| Guest post by: Jordan Crouter |
Article Overview: When building any business it is just a matter of the number of people you talk to about your business. If you are not comfortable talking to people, especially, total strangers, you have to get over that. Then once you can talk to people, you need to know how to handle rejection, because it will surely happen. So, the challenge is going to be to handle it and then move on. However, that isn't always so easy.

Who Do You Know?
When you are working in a business that involves and literally hinges your success on doing so, you better learn how to talk to people, and then be able to handle some rejection. Yes, that's right, you are going to be rejected by friends, family and just about anybody you meet. That will be the negative side of it but the positives will far outweigh them when you learn to handle those challenges and accept them as simply a part of the process.
No matter what industry experts you read, inevitably you will see that it boils down to the numbers that you talk to. So, the challenge is going to be to handle it and then move on. Some of the best advice that I've run into that helps with that mental process is simple and yet sums it all up. Simply stated it is, "Some will, Some won't, So what" (SW, SW, SW). If you detach yourself from the rejection and realize they are not rejecting you personally but rejecting what you have to offer you simply repeat that to yourself and then move to the next thing. This is something that I have added to complete the process as I see it, "Some will, Some won't, So what...NEXT!"
After you've heard the "thanks but no thanks", again you think, "some will, some won't and so what." The most important thing to remember after hearing this, is that you should then just simply respond with the question, "Who do you know that might be interested?" Since they are now no longer feeling "on the spot" you are in a much better position to discuss someone else's interest or ability and you can always use that referral for your next contact. Remember SW,SW SW, and THEN...who do you know?
