"Talent Develops in Tranquility..."

"Talent develops in tranquility, character in the full current of life." - Johann von Goethe The caveat here is that we cannot create tranquil lives without building strong character. Character develops as we live our lives. Every action we take either strengthens or weakens our character. It's in those day to day moments, when no one notices, that we have the opportunity to make choices to create our best selves. A dropped glove on a snowy sidewalk, too much change given at the supermarket, the missed workout because you're tired/don't feel good/have bills to pay. These may not seem like much, hardly anything at all, but they chip away at character. They say to your Self that it's too much trouble to be a person of character. And then the chasm widens between the person you are and the person you want to be.

When our character is strong, we are at peace. We trust ourselves. In this tranquil state of mind and body the highest energy of the Universe flows through us. Our talents have the space to be nourished, and we become authentic, abundant, and of the highest service to our fellow human beings.

I have been thinking about the major reasons why a project can go wrong and my limited experience comes up with the following. 1 Leadership: A project manager with leadership skills and not just management skills. 2 Failure to (Foresee and) Plan 3 Failure to Manage: Ineffective change management control methods. Unclear decision making guidelines. 4 Talent: Finding, allocating and developing people 5 Scope: Setting an overly ambitious or amibigious project scope 6 Alignment: When projects are not prioritized in alignment with the business strategy, or project members personal objectives are not in tandem with that of the project / company 7 Lack of Candor: Communication Breakdowns I would be interested in knowing everyone's thoughts on this, especially on ways to overcome the above mentioned obstacles.
