What's the Biggest Obstacle to Your Success?
"Success is not measured by what you accomplish but by the opposition you have encountered and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds." - Orison Swett Marden
Every time I come across this quote, something else comes up for me. Always there are obstacles to what we want to achieve. But what I'm thinking about now is that the biggest obstacle to achieving anything is the thought that it can't be. And that thought will keep showing up like bills in the mailbox if we don't take action to stop it.
The key to success is to concentrate our thoughts and energy on what CAN be done. Make a list of the things you feel would really propel your life or career forward. Put it all down, whatever comes into your mind. Then take a deep breath and ask yourself, "What action on this list would bring me closer to my dream than any other?" Then do it. If it's not something that can be done in a day, break it up into smaller actions, and then take one of those smaller actions each day. Trust yourself. We each hold the answers to everything we need to know inside of us. We know the 'T'ruth.
It takes great bravery to pursue something you want so passionately. If you're dreaming it and pursuing it, you are already successful. Let the feeling of success flow over you. Embrace it and thank yourself. And thank your definition of a Higher Power for guiding you.
