Change Your Business in 30 Days – I Dare You!

My friend, and new coach, Suzanne Evans sent an ezine before Christmas with a very compelling title: “Gas, Groceries or Coaching?”I have no doubt she got a lot of feedback on that title/content because, just on her Facebook page alone, I saw a lot of comments.

David Neagle and I both commented that it need not be a choice – in other words, the ‘or’ can easily be changed to ‘and’.I learned this mindset concept many years ago, from my mentor Lou Tice, who would always simplify it by making reference to ordering pizza: ‘thin crust or thick crust?” – Lou would always say, “why not get both?” I have always remembered that.

Our conditioning, and the way we think, is so powerful. Most often, we won’t even allow our minds to ‘go there’ – thinking that we can have ‘both’, or ‘all of it’. Well, why not? The key is to change the way we think about things and then make it happen!

“All the significant battles are waged within the self!”– Sheldon Kopp

How would you like to change your business in 30 days?I bet you would (or you wouldn’t be reading this right now!). What are you prepared to do to make that happen – seriously? As human beings, we are always looking for the quick fix – when it comes to weight loss, making money, quitting smoking, growing our business………

“The true conquest lies in penetrating the self-imposed barriers, those limitations within our minds.”– John Amatt

While it is critical, and essential, to change the way you think about the way you do things –both personally and in business – it is also important to know that you cannot do it alone.I know that I have been ‘harping’ on this for over a month now and will probably continue to do so in the future. Why? Because it is the truth. I know you would like to change your business in 30 days – who wouldn’t? But there are some things that need to change in order for that to happen.

The truth shall set you free.Have you heard this comment before? Of course. It’s not something new. Where are you deceiving yourself when it comes to the way you do business? Are you just busy or are you truly IN business? Are you making money or are you living off other means of income (RRSPs, partner’s income, savings account, etc.)?

You’ve got to be hungry!I first heard this comment, with respect to succeeding in business, from Les Brown – a famous motivational speaker. You’ve got to be hungry to succeed! How hungry are you? How lazy are you? How productive and focused are you? How committed are you to helping people solve their problems?

You cannot succeed alone.Every successful person has a mentor – it’s true! Even Oprah, who launched her own network this week, has great mentors – Maya Angelou, for one. She surrounds herself with great, and successful, people. Who is your mentor? Or, do you prefer to be the lone ranger? You’re not going to get too far that way.

You’ve got be accountable! That, my friends, is one of the top 5 steps to success. You see this applied in many different ways – when it comes to weight loss groups (Weight Watchers, for instance), with Bible Study Groups, with addictions groups, and in business, too. When we make a commitment to a support group, research shows that we are much more successful in the long run (and in the short term – as short as 30 days, in fact!!!!).

You must make a decision. It all starts with a decision. You must make a decision for things to change in 30 days – and then take action.

You must take risks. When Suzanne spoke of ‘cash, groceries or coaching’ – she was serious, and so am I! Perhaps you have never worked with a coach or participated in a master mind group. Well, what are you waiting for? And stop listening to all the negative things you may have heard about these concepts – and check out all the success stories instead. It takes research, commitment, clarity and action. Sure, it’s a risk. But, so what? Is your business success worth it? Aren’t the potential clients, who are waiting for you and your solution to their problems, worth it? You betcha!

Want to change your business in 30 days? Then, get with the program!Surround yourself with the right people this year (and yes, that may mean leaving some people behind…….quit hanging around with mediocre entrepreneurs!). Get a coach and get yourself into a master mind group. Want to learn more? Read “Think and Grow Rich” by Napolean Hill. This is not a new book – but it is a powerful one and it explains the master mind concept very well.

CONCLUSION

I write this weekly article for a reason – to educate you, to inspire you, to support you and to help you.Quit getting in your own way.You can make significant changes in your business in just 30 days – as long as you make the decision, take action and get into a master mind group today! When you make the decision to join the right group with the right leader and start doing the work, you will begin to see results immediately. No kidding! So get going – before you know it, another 30 days will have passed – and you don’t want to be sitting in the same place as you were at the beginning of this month.

Where are you allowing fear to hold you back from changing your business? Please share your thoughts. YOUR ASSIGNMENT

  1. Get a coach! Now!
  2. Join a mastermind group fear typically exists when you work alone, not when you belong to a network of like-minded, supportive entrepreneurs. Let’s talk – if I am not the right coach/master mind leader for you, I’ll direct/guide you to the right one.
  3. Just do it!

Re: Spellcheck? Re: Spellcheck? - [quote="TheAnonymousMan":2f894q6j]When discussing the majority of people I would definitely say that most people hit the "Change" or "Ignore" button without thinking too much about the correct spelling of a word. All bosses are concerned about is getting the report to the Directors meeting on time.[/quote:2f894q6j] That probably depends on what the "majority" are trying to accomplish. I have word set to alert me about misspellings and grammatical problems, so I fix most as I go. But I also add names etc to the dictionary because I get tired of seeing the red and green squiggles when I know the info is right. If you're only going to click "Change" or "Ignore" then why bother to take the time to use spell check????? Business people that I work for want the info compiled in a timely manner and they want it right - which is fine because that's the way I strive to do any project. Sending out a memo, letter, report etc with obvious spelling and grammatical mistakes makes the person and the company look bad as far as I'm concerned. Shri

Re: Getting *back* to the next step Re: Getting *back* to the next step - I think small things can make a big difference. Cut corners when ever possible. To the point that you don't lose any business. For example: start using cheaper products around the office. You'd be surprised how much money you can save just by going to a less expensive brand for the same items. Start soliciting referrals. People are happy to give you a good one if you've done a good job. You just have to ASK. Word of mouth is the most powerful form of advertising and it's the least expensive = free! Turn off lights and computers and even pull plugs on appliances on the weekends, or even every night if you have time and aren't using them. This saves a lot of energy in the long run and you should be conserving energy anyway. Dare I say this......shake the printer ink and make it go another 50 copies. Over a year you can save quite a bit in ink costs. There are other cuts you can make that won't impact the quality of your service/product if you sit down and really think it over, but this is a start.
