I’m Looking for a Hero
|
| Guest post by: Linda Sage |
Article Overview: The sound of laughter ringing out from the dining room where some friends are having dinner together, a simple thing, but something that has been a long time coming back into my life, only because the barriers I put up to keep the pain out, also kept the joy out as well. Simple conversation and general chit-chat mixed with good feelings, comfortable surroundings and the odd vino or two made a Friday eve not just the end of yet another week, into something great and memorable.

I’m Looking for a Hero
The sound of
laughter ringing out from the dining room where some friends are having dinner
together, a simple thing, but something that has been a long time coming back
into my life, only because the barriers I put up to keep the pain out, also
kept the joy out as well. Simple
conversation and general chit-chat mixed with good feelings, comfortable surroundings
and the odd vino or two made a Friday eve not just the end of yet another week,
into something great and memorable.
When we are
hurt it is easy to hide behind barriers, be grumpy, angry and lonely, keeping
people at an arms length. Taking those barriers down, lets in a lot of new
light and joy. Taking a risk on someone or something new does leave us
vulnerable, but can we really afford not to?
The people
we now count as friends would never have been there if we had not taken that
risk with them and think about the joy, friendship and support they have given
us! Whose to say what that next person
will bring into our lives.
So many of
us live with a fear of failure; whether in a relationship, job, financial or
setting personal goals. Rather not try
then to fail? No baby is born with fear it is learnt, by conditioning and
life so, it can be un-learnt, how would life look is you were not afraid of
anything? Fears come down to “I can’t deal with that”, but when or if you have
to, usually you can. The power of the
inner strength is unleashed and we can do amazing things, like the woman who
lifted a car off of her children after an accident, or the man who runs into a
burning building to help somebody else.
We are all heros, perhaps we just need to find it, sometimes a simple
smile can make you a hero to a passer by, how do you know if you never try? Keep your eyes lowered and the shutters up,
how much of life are you missing?
Every living
thing needs sunlight and rain, when the rain has been and the sunlight comes
back finding that rainbow is well worth the effort. Life is just like that.
Going to bed
at night and finding five good things that have happened to you that day soon
becomes easy, as you start to notice the good things instead of taking them for
granted, then a funny thing happens the more you see the good things, the more
they happen – coincidence???? No your own power, but just like the light switch
you can choose to turn it on or off, live in the light or stumble your way through
in the dark. Its up to you!!!
