When I think back on the ancient advice, "practice makes perfect," I realize there is a lot of truth in that. But it is definitely not 100% true. We need certain techniques. Most of us these days don't have the time or the desire to sit around for hours on end. We don't want to write and write, waiting for a bit of improvement to show up. We want quicker results. We want tips to use now.

So, I am going to share with you a few of my favorite tips and quicker ways you can improve your writing style. You can definitely put these to use immediately, without having to spend months on end "practicing."

5 Tips For Making Your Writing Style More Compelling

1) Always include a photograph or illustration, if it is possible. The saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words," is amazingly true. It seems like a silly way to start a list on 5 writing tips, but this is very true. Pictures grab people. They are powerful and get attention. Pictures draw people to your writing and they help keep people glued to your page. If for some reason you cannot include a photo, paint a picture with your words. Entertain your reader's senses with your descriptions.

2) Always write short sentences and paragraphs. Doing this makes it smoother for people to read through your work. Do not string out words into ongoing sentences and chunky paragraphs. Keep it clean, punchy and sharp. When it's fresh and to the poing, it makes it much more enjoyable to read. This allows people to follow allong and understand your message. And that is one of your main purposes.

3) Numbered points and subheadings guide people easily through your piece. And readers tend to process any information when it is presented to them in smaller chunks. It's a good idea to take advantage of this with bullet points, strategies or ideas whenever possible. Capturing a reader and helping them remember what you have written will be one of the results.

4) Write in an easy to understand format and be to the point. Tight, concise pieces are understood and are more visually pleasing too. Your readers will be delighted as they flow along. Make it your goal to stay interesting. Don't waste extra wording trying to explain things in a variety of ways. When the content gets too lengthy, your piece tends to get confusing. If you have a lot of information to share, you can always split it into two or more parts.

5) Never wander far away from your central point. Getting too many ideas and thoughts splashed through your piece will confuse readers about the main idea. It's a good idea to build an outline before starting. What's your main objective? Then choose about three or four subpoints that support it. Make sure each point is relevant to your piece.

These are five quick and easy tips, but don't underestimate them. They create powerful results when applied to your writing and they are tips you can begin using today. You are well on your way to becoming a more effective writer.

Re: e-Commerce and e-Payment providers - When I came back to Japan in 1999 I sometimes used to ask my students if they would buy anything on the Internet and at that time most thought it was too risky. I'd encourage them to try by using well known sites such as Amazon.co.jp and also pointed out that using a credit card on a reputable site was safer than using it at a restaurant. I can't remember the last time I had that discussion or when the "tipping point" occurred in Japan. To answer your other question, I use Paypal for several reasons: 1. Brand familiarity 2. Easy to use 3. Free to withdraw 50,000yen+ to my Japanese bank account - a huge benefit (but maybe other systems also offer that...?) 4. Easy to cancel subscriptions On the down side, their transaction fees are quite costly, they are difficult to contact and when disputes arise you can sometimes lose even when you can prove via your tracking service that the disputed item was "delivered" to the customer's address!
