Ku'uipo Coaching

What is Ku'uipo (pronounced koo oo ih poh) Coaching?

Ku'uipo, a Hawaiian word, means one who invites others into their hearts and into the mystery. In a Ku'uipo Coaching relationship, coach and client meet heart to heart and form a soul partnership, two people with one goal, to increase the client's life understanding and satisfaction. Going into the mystery means digging into the reasons behind beliefs and behaviors that don't work.

Ku'uipo Coaching is a partnership that invigorates your mind, challenges your psyche, awakens your spirit and leaves you feeling amazingly alive. A holy journey, your coaching partnership takes you on a powerful pilgrimage to make yourself whole and authentic. When you know who you are and why you do the things you do, you are able to see the way to achieve your life goals more easily. The best part comes out of the evergreen learning you achieve. Even after you have moved out of your coaching partnership, you are still able to draw from your coaching experience for the rest of your life when you need to delve into the mysteries that confound your life. You can jump-start the understanding yourself and others part by reading my book Grow Yourself a Life You'll Love.

What is a Ku'uipo Coaching session like?

It begins each 30-minute weekly session with quick greetings and the beginning question: What's going on? If the clients answers, I'm drowning in duties, they are asked to say more. I walk in the office and there's a memo on my desk that I have to sign off on that says our department has to work Saturday mornings all month. I have no life as it is with projects all over the office and piles of crap all over the place at home that keep on growing. Ouch! Sounds like you're feeling overwhelmed right now. How about we do a short energy balance exercise? I could sure use some energy. I feel drained dry.

The Balancing Exercise: Sit as if you're on a throne and someone's placing a crown on your head. Now breathe in focus and energy through your nose and breathe out tension and tiredness through your mouth and do this three times. Thanks. It's really amazing what a little focused breathing does for me. Are you up for a followup visualization? Just a short one, I've got a lot on my plate for this call.

The Visualization: Imagine for a couple of minutes your place all uncluttered, no piles, no mess. Wow! Does that feel good. Okay, what could you do right now to get rid of some of the clutter at home? Hmmm. Well, I could put all the unread books, newspapers, and magazines out of sight in the closet. And, I could take out all the laundry and ironing and let my cleaner do it. Sounds like a plan. When do you think you could have these things done? I'm on it, right after we get off the telephone. Yes! I want to honor you for increasing your willingness to delegate when work pressures build up. Now, what else have you on your plate for this call?

What is the Goal of Ku'uipo Coaching?

Self-discovery, to manifest and develop inner strengths and resources so you can draw on them to solve your problems and turn your visions and dreams into reality. Coaching helps you gain an objective mind and accountability. Being coached is also about discovering what's important to you and blowing away everything that gets in the way. With a coach you set goals, make commitments, and report weekly on your progress. If it takes a step-by-step action plan to bring you to do it, you and your coach need to create one that you can live with.

What are the Benefits of Ku'uipo Coaching?

  1. When your blood boils with ideas and you want to do everything all at once, your coach helps you make choices that rein you in so that your goals become possible in a priority hierarchy.
  2. You work through making the hard decisions, choices and personal changes necessary to achieve your goals.
  3. You are forced you to look at what does not serve you so you can see more clearly what's blocking your success.
  4. Your coach is your personal spotter, tracking your success, clapping and helping you use your time effectively and efficiently.
  5. You have a sounding board for what's driving you nuts, helping you think through all possible solutions so that you make fewer mistakes.
  6. Maybe for the first time, you get to say what's on your mind without pulling punches or polishing.
  7. You get the benefit of two minds that want the best for you, two sources of inspiration, two pools of creativity, and two sources of solutions and options to solve the problems that are in your way.
The idea here is to have someone in your corner to point out your strengths, advantages, and options while also playing devil's advocate to alert you to the downsides and disadvantages before they can harm you.

In a coaching relationship, you'll find that you take yourself and your goals more seriously. And why not? Coaching works. Athletes and artists have historically used coaches to keep improving. Champions are constantly pointing themselves towards a more successful future and their coaches are helping them do what they need to do to get there. Success-motivated individuals are finding coaches can help them get where they want to be, as well.

At the bottom of the Ladder is ebooks and at the top is One on One Coaching. so the ladder would look like this starting from the Top ($$$) to Bottom($) One-to-One Coaching ($$$$$$) Workshops ($$$$$) Teleseminars ($$$$) Video($$$) Audio ($$) ebooks ($) I agree with this methodology mainly because of the convenience factor and value from the customers point of view.

Re: Business Women Peer Mentoring Spotlight Re: Business Women Peer Mentoring Spotlight - That is a great idea, David. This is what I had in mind for the Women's section, but it makes sense to post in on the main site. Of course, I'm waiting for some women to step up to the plate and share how they could use some support on taking the next step with their business! If you are a Business Woman reading this, I invite you to consider that this is not displaying weakness in any form. Peer mentoring and Coaching is incredibly valuable. You get to bounce your ideas off others, hear perspectives from outside your own box, and feel the power of others cheering you on. To me, it's wisdom to use all of our available resources to move towards business success. That's why I have my own Coach and my own Mentor Coaching Group. I also offer that to my clients. These are services one usually has to pay for and you could enjoy some of it free right here! So who wants to start? Can you tell I'm excited about the possibilities for you even before you begin? Warmly, Tami
Re: Business Women Peer Mentoring Spotlight Re: Business Women Peer Mentoring Spotlight - Hi Everyone, Gosh, I REALLY appreciate your concrete feedback. This was far more than I expected and I'm glad you said what you thought straight out. Each of you have shared something of value and I want to take some more time to think and really go over what each of you have said. However, I can see there are some things I need to change right away. What an interesting point about a NEW program perhaps making people think they are guinea pigs! This is NOT what I want to convey! It's funny how we can see some things so clearly in others while not always seeing it for ourselves! I must admit there are a few things I've been meaning to change (like my bio which is very outdated). Obviously, these things need to be higher on my priority list. You caught me like the plumber who puts his clients first and doesn't get around to fixing his own tap! As far as my target market, I do feel quite strongly about working with Women Leaders and doing Leadership Coaching with them. It's non-negotiable in my books. In my Executive Coaching training, the terms "Leaders" and "Executives" are interchangable. To me, an Executive is a Leader and so is the Business Woman or Entrepreneur who is CEO of her own business. I love working with decision makers! What I did learn is that I need to avoid opening up the Leadership term beyond what I described above. I'm also wondering if there is a misunderstanding with the general public as to what Leadership Coaching really is. Leadership Coaching is all about developing your leadership skills, both as a people manager and in more effectively running and growing the business. There is ALWAYS room for growth in some way. As well, sometimes, we just need a sounding board to clarify what our next BEST step is. In fact, if a woman thinks she has nothing to work on, then we aren't a good Client/Coach fit anyway. How can she grow if she doesn't see the value of expressing ALL of the great ability within her? How can her company grow if she doesn't see the value of strategic planning for the next best level? Thanks again to you all! I will go back to my website and really question whether I am conveying the right message. I got more than I bargained for in this Spotlight... you generously offered way more than I was asking. I think we could be on to something great for the Forum. Now it's time to let someone else have the spotlight. It would be great if everyone took a turn! In gratitude, Tami
What are you doing to grow your business Ladies? What are you doing to grow your business Ladies? - Hi Ladies, I thought it might be great for us women to share what we are doing lately to develop our business(es). I have now signed a lease on a new commercial space where my husband and I plan to open a Sport's Consignment and Cappuccino Bar. We're an active tourist destination and we also want to give back to our local community by offering discounted quality equipment. I'm doing lots of research and planning right now. For my Coaching Business, I have signed up for a new coaching mentorship program by one of USA's top Executive Coach trainers, Drayton Boylston. He's sure to challenge me, offer continued professional development and keep me on track as I grow my Coaching business. I'm quite excited about the opportunity since you have to be invited to even participate in this group. What are you doing lately or what are you planning in order to develop your business? I'm hoping we can all encourage each other to keep our businesses growing. Warm regards, Tami
