What is Art: A Discussion by Artists

What Art Is Seeing with an Artist's Eyes, looks for the art beyond expectation, the invisible life in the visible. I intend to bless the world when I paint an image as well as to bring blessings to the image. Each framed painting becomes a child, a real, living breathing entity.

Cézanne is quoted in the Summer 2007 publication of Psycho Spiritual Therapy, the painter's only aspiration must be to silence; he must stifle within himself the voices of prejudice, he must forget, always forget, establish silence, to be a perfect echo, then the landscape will inscribe itself on his sensitive tablet. In order to record it on the canvas, to eternalize it, his craft will have to be appealed to, but a respectful craft which must be ready only to obey, to translate unconsciously, so well does it know its language: the text it is deciphering, the two parallel texts; nature as seen, natures as felt…both of which must merge in order to endure, to live a life half human, half Devine, the life of art, listen to me…the Life of God.

Cézanne called this "the fragrance of its eternity."

Another question could be "who are artists?" Josiah Holland answered this question: "Artists are nearest God. Into their souls He breathes life, and from their hands it comes in fair, articulate forms to bless the world."

As an artist, I look at everything with an Artist's Eyes, seeing with the heart as well as the mind and spirit. People know I am an artist simply by looking at the way I dress, looking at my home. Artists have a way with engaging with the things of the world, a way of loving them, cherishing them, because they get to know the things of the world though interaction with them when they paint them. The best way to get to know anything is to paint it. Through the painting, all its secrets lay bare before you. All the colors that are an integral part of the image that can never be seen with a glance, can only be seen when you become one with the thing through a passion to capture it forever.

I recently read a quote attributed to one of my life teachers, Bolivan, Oscar Ichazo, known in Enneagram circles as the father of the enneagram, stating that love is Recognition of the same consciousness in the other as there is in oneself.

In one of his classes, I was instructed to spend an entire half-hour looking into the eyes of a stranger and the stranger into mine. When I could stop feeling self-conscious and able to become other-conscious, I received the gift of intuitively knowing that person. At the end of the exercise, Ichazo knew we would no longer be a room full of strangers. Similarly, when I finish painting an image, it is no longer a stranger. Sometimes, I turn down a commission just because the image does not speak to me. Painting is such an intimate relationship; I first must be drawn to the image.

Isn't that an exciting way to do work?

Home-based Business Home-based Business - signed my first 200 customers while I worked from home. You can make it work. Many small businesses do, i.e. interior designers, AC/Heating Companies, moving companies, Plumbing companies, painters, landscapers, web designers, Mobile car mechanics, Computer Techs, online retail businesses, Pool cleaners, Home Repair, Telemarketers, electricians, Artists, etc
Re: The best place_ Re: The best place_ - Hi Philip, That is a very intelligent question. It can save many visitors a lot of time, if they find the answer to themselves. You can choose where your interest lies and time it as to how long you like to be on. I am a moderator and I have been away for a few month. As I returned I head first to Entrepreneurs Discussion and see what input I can make. This is just outside my spectrum, but now and again that is okay. Be blessed Beat
Social Media Marketing Category... Social Media Marketing Category... - I agree that a social media marketing category would be useful and added my vote. I would include "bookmarking" sites in the mix as well. Such a category would be useful for several reasons: 1. Talking about SMM, its purpose and networking strategies and tips. 2. Discussion of the various SMM sites. 3. New about new sites and developments. 4. Helping to build each others SMM networks.
Artist vs Biz Owner Artist vs Biz Owner - I think there is a fine line between "artists" and "business owners". Artists begin with their passion and self expression and try to find a market for it. e.g. I like painting flowers and I think people out there like flowers too so that is what I am going to sell. This is where hard-selling starts and the starving-artist persona. Business Owners (who can be artists too) first find out wants and needs in the market and deliver that. e.g. Ashley may have noticed that MySpace had some real yukky backgrounds and thought I can do better - then filled that need. would love if Ashley were on this site too...
Craigslist for Beginners Craigslist for Beginners - Although Craigslist has been around in one form or another since 1995, there are still some who have no idea how to use Craigslist. These individuals are missing out on a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a growing and continually evolving online community. This community is an excellent resource for finding information, finding jobs, finding friends or dates, making purchases, selling items or discussing important issues. This article will provide a brief introduction to each of the major sections on Craigslist. Community Section The community section of Craigslist is very useful for finding a great deal of local information. This may include activities, events, activities and lost and found just to name a few. This is definitely the section to check out if you are looking for things to do or see in a particular area. Personals Section The Personals section is where individuals can meet platonic friends or romantic partners. This section is set up with a number of different categories making it possible for both heterosexuals and homosexuals to find potential dates. The personals section is restricted to users over 18 years of age. Discussion Forums The discussion forums provide a location for individuals to voice their opinions, answer questions or otherwise exchange information. This section is divided into a number of different categories to make it easier for users to find others who share their interests. Certain categories allow users to post without logging in while other sections require users to log in before posting. Housing Section Craigslist’s housing section offers a variety of options related to lodging. Users of this section can find apartments or homes available for rent, sublet opportunities, potential roommate situations, house or apartment swaps, real estate sales, vacation rentals and even storage, parking and office space for rent or sale. For Sale Section The for sale section of Craigslist is largely self explanatory. Like most sections, it is divided into a number of different categories. Each of these categories describes the types of items which are offered for sale within the category. Additionally, there is a wanted section where users may post advertisements seeking to purchase particular items. Not all of the items listed in the for sale section require a fee to be paid to receive the item. Some of these items are available for free or in barter situation. Services Sections In the services section, service providers may place advertisements for the types of services they offer. Advertisements should be placed in appropriate categories but if there is no appropriate category the advertisement may be placed in the generic small business section. Jobs Section The job section is by far the most extensive section on Craigslist. This section is broken down into a number of different categories to make it easier for users to search for potential career matches. Users may find full time as well as part time opportunities in this section as well as telecommute positions and contract positions. Gigs Section The gigs section is similar to the jobs section but advertisements in the gigs section are supposed to refer to one time only opportunities as opposed to ongoing work. For example advertisements for volunteer staff needed for a one day event should be placed in the gigs section while advertisements for full time staff positions should be placed in jobs. Resumes Section The resumes section enables job seekers to post their resumes. The key to getting noticed in this section is to use a catchy headline for the resume. The resumes are not divided into different categories making it difficult for users to search through these resumes.
