Go Green In Presentation Skills Training
We are now
living in a world where environmental consciousness is a growing concern.
‘Going green’ is a top priority for savvy consumers and entrepreneurs. Find out
how to choose green when choosing professional presentation skills training.
With more
focus on environmental safety, it’s important to look for a presentation
training firm that shares the value of responsibility. Green focus is more than
a marketing gimmick. It’s a core value that applies to product creation,
distribution, and communication.
When choosing
a green provider for presentation skills training, use this quick and easy tip
sheet.
1.
Are
trainings available online?
Choose a
provider, which offers training online. This helps reduce carbon footprint of
travel, facilities costs, commuting and printing.
2.
Are
materials available online?
Look for a
training provider where you can view and use materials online. This reduces
waste of paper, printing, and binders. If you remember the waste from training
classes of yesteryear—you know exactly why this is so valuable.
3.
Are
training curriculums offered with online video?
Rather than
relying on curriculums that are only available in onsite seminars, look for
programs taught via video. Video tutorials provide real-world examples, direct
contact with experts and over-the-shoulder personal instruction.
Many students
prefer video tutorials. You can see exactly how professionals deliver material.
Plus, it’s easy to go at your own pace, reviewing as often as you wish. This is
just not possible in a real-world classroom.
And…it’s very
environmentally friendly.
4.
Are
communications sent via email?
Save trees.
Look for training providers who value email over paper. Plus, take things a
step further. If you’re printing emails, stop and ask. “Do I really need to
print this?” If the answer is ‘no’ or ‘not really,’ then you’ve just done a
good deed for the environment.
5.
Is
it possible to get all training anywhere-anytime?
With more
workers checking in remotely, and mobile commuting skyrocketing, getting
training remotely is a must. Make sure that your training provider is in tune
with going green and mobile access.
6.
Is
coaching available virtually?
We all need a
helping hand sometime. But not all providers offer virtual coaching—especially
emergency or last minute sessions. Look for a presentation training provider
who is ready to help you when you need it—wherever you are.
Funny story
here. Last week, I coached a colleague in the U.K. to get ready for his
presentation on entrepreneurship. I’m on west coast time. He’s in London. We
found the perfect ‘sweet spot’ for our Skype calls: his end of the day—was my
start.
Plus, we also
found an added benefit. With the time difference, he was able to do practice
exercises and trial runs. By timing and sequencing our coaching sessions, he
could learn a new skill, practice it, and test it. Then, when we met again, he
had new questions based on his experience.
When looking
for an executive coach, make sure he or she is available virtually. This is
good for you—and good for the environment.
See, it’s a
lot easier than you might imagine to boost your presentation skills—and
take care of the earth at the same time.
