The Benefits of Fusion Marketing Your Self Storage Facility with Other Local Businesses

Fusion marketing is the act of cross promoting other local businesses who will in turn promote your own. This type of marketing can have real success for businesses, especially when their products or services overlap or they are in the same immediate area.

For instance, if a self storage company uses fusion marketing in partnership with a moving company, then people who are moving may also end up renting a storage unit based on the moving company's recommendation, and vice versa. If a customer already trusts one company, they will be more likely to go with another company that was recommended by them. This is how fusion marketing can help your self storage facility gain new customers by referral.

Besides simply joining forces to promote one another, small and local businesses can also offer exclusive discounts to one another's businesses. The moving company can give their customers a business card with a unique referral code, which when turned into the self storage company, will earn them an exclusive discount that is billed as only available to the moving company's customers. The unique referral code can also allow for tracking of referrals and sale revenues.

In order to set up a reciprocal fusion marketing partnership with other local businesses, stop by their office and ask to talk to the owner or manager. Explain your proposal and the discounts you're willing to offer, if applicable. In most cases, businesses are willing to at least consider it, especially when their business will be referred by your self storage facility as well.

Chain store hurdles Chain store hurdles - [quote:3v8nzz4s]Everyone I'm targeting are independent stores which helps me overcome one hurdle. [/quote:3v8nzz4s] What hurdle is that? I know the major stores like B&N, etc. like to deal with buyers and distributors, but I think they all cut some slack to "Local" authors, don't they? Every store I go into has its "Local Section," featuring local authors, as well as books about the locality. I wouldn't bypass them altogether. If you drive past one, why not go in and visit, talk to the manager, see what they say? [quote:3v8nzz4s]Bookstores want to order through Bowkers and I have their info and the ISBN (identification) numbers for my books. [/quote:3v8nzz4s] You mean the major chain ones do, right? Independent stores I think have no problem dealing directly with the publisher/author. But you want to get your money up front if possible in case they go out of business....as too many independents do these days.

Starting a New Business Starting a New Business - Congratulations on the first step of deciding to create your own business. First, you have to ascertain if you are going to be selling your products or services to people or to businesses. People purchase products and services for three basic reasons: •To satisfy basic needs •To solve problems •To make themselves feel good. You have to determine which of these three categories your product or service is the solution to. Businesses, unlike individuals, buy products and services for three reasons as well: •To increase revenues •To maintain the status quo •To decrease expenses. Knowing the reasons why people/businesses buy, you should have a picture emerging of who you think your "Target Market" (or ideal customer) is. Once you have zeroed in on your solution, you are ready to create your Marketing Strategy. If you look at any company that has grown rapidly over the past few years, (i.e. WestJet and Starbucks), it should demonstrate to you the importance of Marketing. In simple terms these companies have: •Clearly defined what makes them different; •Who their ideal customer is; •How to reach them; •Why customers should buy from them; •And most importantly why customers should come back again. It is strong Marketing Awareness that singles out the best companies. I can not stress enough how important it is to create a "living" Marketing Plan before you even start. I hope this helps a little in the creation of your plan. All the very best of luck. Remember: "A Goal without a Plan is just a Wish" Miles of Smiles, Marketing Maven
