This must be hard

The reason it must be hard is that so few people do it.

"How was your dinner last night?"

Follow up. Not follow up to sell something, just to know. Just to ask. Just to set things right if they were wrong.

The fancy restaurant knows my phone number. Why not have the owner call me the next day just to ask?

The doctor knows my number. Why not call a week later to see how that broken arm is mending?

The accountant knows my number. Why not check in to see if the taxes went out the door okay?

If you really want to generate those referrals, don't ask for a referral, ask if everything was great. Offer to help. Do it in a gentle way, with no strings, no additional addons, no sales pitch. If you really and truly care, why not ask? Not a form, not a survey. Just one caring person, asking. Not that hard, actually.

Using factoring companies Using factoring companies - I haven't used it myself but can see how it would be valuable for some entrepreneurs. It's hard when you get an order but don't get paid until 30, 60, or 90 days later. But it's also hard to give up $ to the factoring companies!
Re: HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE! Re: HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE! - This is history in the making. It seems like yesterday that the black people in America didn't have rights and now Obama proved to the whole world that if you believe in yourself hard enough and work hard you can make all your dreams come true.
Rolling Over your 401k Rolling Over your 401k - Do people know about this option? You can roll over your own nest egg to fund your own business. Plus, you can do this without penalty from the government. That way, you are putting your hard earned money into the investment that you want to pay out. You will work hard to make sure that your money and time are not mis-spent.
Re: Picking an external hard drive to backup my files Re: Picking an external hard drive to backup my files - I bought one from Ebay and it worked great for about a year - I forget the brand. But, about 2 months ago, it froze up and all the info is stuck there. Luckily most of the info was still on my desktop computer - but I had a quote of $250 to get the info off the hard drive. I love the flexibility of moving info from one computer to the other with an external hard drive, but seems I would need to find a way to back up the hard drive somewhere else as an insurance policy. When mine froze up - I found a good number of questions on forums from people who had the same problem. So, it doesn't seem that buying Ebay was the issue. I've bought plenty of electronic things on Ebay and they have all worked. I think the issue with my external hard drive could've been because I was using it all day every day to store and retreive files and it was also turned on all the time - until I did that, I didn't have any problems at all. Re: Unions Ruining America? Re: Unions Ruining America? - I'm can't speak for what's happening in the US but until 2 weeks ago I was employed by a major car manufacturer in the UK Now I, and hundreds of others in just 2 plants alone have been laid off and more are being made redundant or pensioned off in the New Year. This is happening all over the UK with different car manufacturers and I for one am not getting paid anything at all. I was simply told that's it, there's no more work (and yes I was in the union, I've now cancelled my subscription!) Of course it will be different for the people who have worked there for years, I'd only been there 2 years, but I do know that they are trying to con those that are left, people who have worked hard all their lives for the same company, out of there hard earned redundancy or pension. Now the retail trade is being hit here too, and hard, with 2 major stores going bust this week alone and others looking very likely to follow. I doubt the 30,000 + people in retail who have been laid off already will be treated fairly either. Unions? I daren't print my opinion! Carol
