Sometimes Ya’ Gotta’ Hustle

In bygone years when cassette players were the rage, one day I needed a new one and, since I liked the one I had been using, I decided to buy another. I walked into the store which sells them, held up my device and asked if they had another one. The manager said, "I believe so," and picked one up commenting, "Yes, this is it." He then turned to the young man who was standing by him and asked him to complete the transaction. The young man started ambling towards the rear of the store so I asked him, "Are you going to ring me up?" The young man said, "Yes," and I said, "Well, this is the one I want," pointing to the one the manager had held up. He responded, "I'm going to the back to get you a new one." He casually sauntered into the store room. When he reappeared he was moving so slowly that I had to line him up between two shelves to make certain he was moving. Since I was obviously in a hurry, I was surprised at his movement and said to the young man, "I am in somewhat of a hurry." He said, "Huh?" and I said, "I'm in a hurry." The young man, to my astonishment, replied, "I am hurrying."

In fact he was dragging his heels by anyone's standards. When I was a youngster, I worked in a grocery store. When a customer wanted something and I was not in a dead run to get it, my boss would say to me, "Come on, Boy! A dollar is waiting on a dime!" He meant the customer took first preference and needed to be - and expected to be - given fast service or his next stop would be at another store.

I tell the story only to emphasize that when your customer is obviously in a big hurry, you need to hustle and meet the customer's needs and expectations. That benefits the store and the customer, and helps secure the job for the employee. Think about it and I'll SEE YOU AT THE TOP!

Re: Another Wordpress Website! Re: Another Wordpress Website! - I think I liked the opt-in box better before the change. And I agree with Evan about making the testimonial pictures the same size. Otherwise it looks great! Also, I got your PM. Gotta go right now but I will reply later.

Re: Quote of the Day - "Start a service - it's low cost and gets Re: Quote of the Day - "Start a service - it's low cost and gets - Evan, that's so true. When I expanded from the Japanese games niche to the Internet marketing business niche (much more competitive, and much more lucrative if you can make it work) I wasn't making any month until I started a service - my Internet marketing plr article club. Creating low cost, low priced services has been a good way for me to get close to customers and to get repeat sales plus affiliate sales on the back too. Gotta long way to go still, but I now have several services and a few products of my own to bring in front-end cash.
Re: Those Annoying Telemarketers Re: Those Annoying Telemarketers - When I was making phone calls I received 2 different messages that really stood out... Message 1: "We can't come to the phone right now. If you're a telemarketer please remove this number from your records. All other calls...." I never bothered to hear the rest because I wasn't allowed leaving messages anyway. I had to actually talk to the person. Message 2: "This phone number is protected by Embarq Privacy Services (something like that). Please leave your name, phone number and reason for call, and the party you're trying to reach will determine if the call is important to them." I summarized, but you get the point. Embarq is a local phone company. I don't know if it's available nationwide or not. That's a new one on me, though. I utilize caller ID on my cell. Unless it's a local number, I don't bother to answer. If it's important enough they'll leave a message. I use my cell for online and offline business since it has these capabilities as well as voicemail. Gotta love technology.
