Read and learn from this depressed, overweight housewife who blossomed into a professional speaker and writer. At barely five feet tall, Pam Lontos weighed over a hundred fifty pounds, was spending most of her day in bed, and was under the care of a psychiatrist who told her that she would always need counseling.
One day she heard a radio ad for a health club. She responded and was impressed with the enthusiasm of the staff and clients. She joined the club and the physical activity made her feel so much better that she decided to sell memberships. The sales manager gave her a set of motivational tapes which enabled her to maintain her excitement and to increase her sales. Later, Pam got into radio sales with a Disney station and quickly became their number one sales person.
Then Pam got her big "break" - she broke her leg. The doctor said she'd be in a cast for nine months so two weeks later she had hired a driver and was selling again. She had difficulty getting around so she started making some sales and many solid appointments on the phone. Her sales improved so dramatically that the other sales people asked her to teach them her techniques. Their results were so good that when the sales manager resigned the sales people petitioned management to make her the sales manager.
The radio station sales exploded and the people at Disney asked her to train the sales people at their other stations. Results were excellent. Next she was invited to speak to the Radio Broadcasters Association and was so well-received that she received 18 invitations to speak to other stations around the country. Today Pam is a published author and professional speaker.
What happened? First, Pam took action and joined the health club. Second, her excitement and confidence were sustained through the motivational tapes. Third, the broken leg made her available to teach the other sales people which attracted the attention of management.
