I can’t help but wonder if I were born in any other time…

…how different my life would be today. If you were to ask the very same question, I am sure you would discover some remarkably interesting answers.

For example. I was born in 1936, in June of that year. Which means, for openers, that when World War II happened, I was only four years old, which meant that I skipped that entire war.

And of course, when the Korean War followed on its heels, I was still too young to be called, and by the time I enlisted in the Army the Korean War was already at its end.

And in the middle of my stay in the Army my Dad had a serious stroke which pulled me home to serve another kind of war in the service of my family.

Which also meant that I was thankfully too old when the Vietnam War came calling, so I missed that one too.

And then of course I was much too old for the first Gulf War and the second Gulf War and all of the terrible conflicts which followed those two.

Now, I don’t know what all that means, but it seems that G-d had something else in mind for me.

If I had been born in Germany, say, in the very same year of 1936, it would have been certain, being a Jew, that none of my family nor I would have escaped the Holocaust.

And that would have been some kind of a rotten shame.

Same year, same child, different place. G-d must have had something else in mind for me.

Which leads me to the obvious question: I wonder what He had in mind?

In all probability it is probably just this. The question is am I doing it now? Are you?Or is it something else I am supposed to be doing?

And if so, what?

And for whom?

I can’t help but wonder if I had been born at any other time what the answer to that question would be.

This is Michael Gerber speaking to you from The Dreaming Room. Come Dream With Me.

Re: MyDogSpace - For Dog Lovers Re: MyDogSpace - For Dog Lovers - That's really cool. I am a dog lover, trainer, enthusiast, etc... Dogs are a big part of my life and always have been. Ever since I was a kid I have always tried to learn everything I could about dogs and I have never owned less than two dogs at any one time since the day I was born. If I could own 100 dogs I would.
Re: Ladies Who Launch Profiles Re: Ladies Who Launch Profiles - Two really inspiring stories here again Barbara, I was especially touched by the boundlessplaygrounds article, being a mother and grandmother myself the very thought of what it would be like if either of my kids or any of grandkids were unfortunate enough to be born with such disabilities is beyond my comprehension. I took a good look round the boundlessplaygrounds website and it is truly amazing and made me want to do something to help, unfortunately I don't have the time or the capital. Maybe my daughter can find some time to start fund-raising for a park in the U.K. Hmmm ... Take care, Carol .
