A New Year's Observation

It takes all kinds. That’s something we’ve noticed in the past year in the news, with Bernard Madoff topping it off. We have a saying in construction when the structure of a building is completed--a ‘topping off party’ to signify the top floor has been put in place. Somehow, the past year got its own topping off party but not in the best sense.

My opinion is that we should all try to be grateful. There’s a lot to be thankful for and being positive is certainly more productive than being negative. But I have to say I got another surprise recently, and it has to do with gratefulness. Rebecca Jarvis was on my show, The Apprentice, which is what first brought her to public recognition. On her recent bio, which airs on CNBC, she had a lot of credits, but one was missing: her appearance on The Apprentice. Her lack of acknowledgment truly surprised me, as her interview with CNBC was expedited and successful due to her exposure on my show.

Many other talented people have appeared on The Apprentice and most of them have had the intelligence and class to recognize what the show has meant in their lives and careers. I wrote a letter to Rebecca and mentioned how quickly we forget.

I may have had the goods in place for a reality show, but to this day I remain thankful that Mark Burnett approached me with his idea and that NBC was supportive in what, at the time, was a risk. There’s never been a successful business show on television before. Rebecca was part of that yet she refused to even give it a mention.

Being appreciative isn’t that hard, and very rarely is anything done alone. I think a good New Year’s resolution is to find reasons to be grateful--and sometimes they’re not that hard to find.

Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategies Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategies - I would honestly say, don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Years ago I was so proud to say that I could 'sell' to anyone in any industry. Over time I realized that certain industries were much more lucrative in terms of commissions and order quantity. I think the same idea definitely exists in internet advertising - if you are looking to one or two single sources of online marketing, you aren't seeing the whole picture. Keep with it, and try and make some kind of consistant effort.
Re: New Year Resolutions... Re: New Year Resolutions... - My New Years Resolution is to be earning $500+ with my online business. This includes any freelance work that I do. I'm about half-way there now. Another Resolution is to look into selling more on eBay and maybe finding a reputable dropshipper that offers competitive pricing on high-demand items. I like eBay and the opportunity that it provides. I've mainly been selling personal items, but I'd like to start tapping into a larger market and making some significant income on eBay.
