There are a lot of similarities between business and baseball, and in ways they are interchangeable. I played baseball in high school and became captain of the team. I learned a lot about how teams can excel with the right leadership and with regard to the specific talents of each player. It was a great education. I remember talking to George Steinbrenner about the ingredients for success and two things we agreed upon were loyalty and talent. Loyalty is a must and if you are job seeking, always ask yourself this question: would you want someone like you on your team? You know the qualities that are important, so review what they are and be sure to deliver them.

Baseball is a team sport that requires individual excellence--just like business. Assembling a talented team--or being a member of a winning team--can be a wonderful experience. Make sure you have what it takes, and think about the big picture--which includes you and your team.
