Most of us were never taught how to win the money game and if we were, most likely we were taught by people who weren’t very good at it. – T. Harv Eker
T. Harv Eker grew up the son of struggling European immigrants who had come to North America with only thirty dollars to their name. Money was scarce throughout his childhood and as a young man, Harv decided that someday, he would be a millionaire.
But adulthood found him, as his parents before him, struggling to make ends meet. After many years of frustration, Harv hit the jackpot. He opened one of the first retail fitness stores in North America and in only two and a half years, expanded the business to ten stores. When a Fortune 500 corporation offered to buy part of Harv’s company, he finally realized his dream of becoming a millionaire. However, less than two years later, the money was gone.
It was at that point that Harv began to develop his theories about our mental and emotional programming around money. He realized that his “financial blueprint” had been set for a specific amount of financial success and unless he did some drastic work, he would live out his life at the same level of success. He soon discovered that he was not alone in this; everyone he met or read about seemed to also have a blueprint that determined their financial success. But his most profound discovery was that this money blueprint could be changed.
He changed his blueprint, creating as he did a template for re-programming financial success set-points, and grew wealthy again. This time, it stuck. However, during his years of struggle, Harv had vowed that should he ever get rich, he would help others do the same. He kept that promise.
