Jenny Craig is based in Carlsbad, California, but you might never know it. It has become one of the largest weight management companies in the world, with more than 640 outlets across the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Puerto Rico. It has served more than 10 million clients at all of its various Jenny Craig locations since its inception in 1983.

With outlets spread across the country, how did the company manage to maintain control and uniform standards throughout? One of the major ways was through establishing a nationally advertised toll-free number that lets customers call in and automatically be routed to the location closest to them. It used sophisticated technology to determine where a person was calling from – within feet – and route them to the nearest open centre, taking into account hours of operation.

So, how do you find the location closest to you? First of all, look online at the Jenny Craig website. Type in your zip or postal code and the site will return a list of the five to ten closest centres near that area. The results will also give you the centre’s location, phone number and a map of the surrounding area to help you find your way.

Alternatively, to find the most convenient Jenny Craig locations for you, try calling their toll-free customer service line at 800-597-5366. At that number you will find live, 24/7 customer support. A real-time consultant will be able to direct you to the centres that are within 30 miles of your home. Another option is to check your local phonebook to look for outlets near you. The local yellow pages is another easy bet.

If phonebooks and computers seem too impersonal for you, another good try to find a location near you is to ask your friends. See if any of them have ever tried dieting with Jenny Craig and which locations they went to. Asking other dieters about their past experience is also a good way to make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into.

Finally, if you’d prefer not to have to call someone at the centre, you can have them call you. Simply visit the Jenny Craig website, lick on the Call Me link and enter in your phone number. In a short time, one of their representatives will get back to you.

If, after all of this, you do wind up finding a location but it is not nearby, you can sign up on their website and join an online group. Although you won’t benefit from the person-to-person support, online support groups can also be effective – and convenient – in helping you reach your goals.

Keep in mind that all of the Jenny Craig locations offer different programs. Not every one will have the one that you have in mind, so be sure to call ahead and find out if they have what you’re looking for. The hard part shouldn’t be finding them – it’s what comes next that will be the real challenge.
