As one of the most popular Jenny Craig recipes, this burger boasts plum tomatoes, fat-free Cheddar cheese, nonfat sour cream, lettuce, onion, pepper, cilantro, and more. Yes, there is ground beef, which can be fatty, but all of the other ingredients she uses are fat-free. She also advises grilling them instead of frying them, a much healthier alternative. And, the philosophy behind all of her foods is that anything is ok for you so long as you take it in moderation. At only 10 minutes time to prepare, this recipe is a quick fix.
Another winning recipe is her Double Chocolate Brownies. Again, how can something that sounds as good as Double Chocolate Brownies actually be considered a diet food? Well, here’s where the Jenny Craig program differs from its competitors. She’s not claiming to offer diet food. She’s offering healthy and tasty food, and she’s teaching her clients how to eat in moderation. That’s that the program is all about.
In her brownies, she tries to make it as healthy as possible, using Equal instead of sugar, and unsweetened applesauce. She keeps her fatty and oily ingredients to a minimum, but the taste to a maximum. That’s the trick.
A third of the favourite Jenny Craig recipes is her Fettuccine with Shrimp and Roast Peppers. Jumbo shrimp, fresh asparagus, garlic, basil, lemon juice, white wine – it sounds heavenly, doesn’t it? But where does it rank on the healthy or not so healthy scale? This recipe has 4.2 grams of fiber, 48.3 grams of protein, and 8.6 grams of fat. Ok, so it’s not something you’ll be making for yourself every day, but it’s a healthy alternative when the craving calls.
Jenny Craig is not your typical weight loss company. They don’t advertise diet foods to make you lose weight as fast as possible. What they do offer is healthy and nutritious food that will help bring balance into your eating.
