I became a journalist to come as close as possible to the heart of the world.

Somehow, despite the greatest differences in temperaments and even in interests, somehow we had to work together. We were an organization. At the center of our lives — our job, our function — at that point everything we had belonged to each other.

When the Time came to decide who was editor, Brit Hadden just had to be it, so I took the business side.

I am all for titillating trivialities. I am all for the epic touch. I could almost say that everything in Time should be either titillating or epic or starkly, supercurtly factual.

Show me a man who claims he is objective and I’ll show you a man with illusions.

Are there not more likely to be three sides or 30 sides?

It is sometimes said that the people are ahead of the politicians; it can also be said that journalism ought to be ahead of the people. Otherwise, the people are ill-served.

As a journalist, I am in command of a small sector in the very front trenches of this battle for freedom.

Everything we know, from the atom to the stars, calls us to leave our comfortable habitations which no longer comfort us, and to strike forth on a pilgrimage to a new civilization.

Business, more than any other occupation, is a continual dealing with the future. It is a continual calculation, an instinctive exercise in foresight.

All our publications, all our activities, are successful. They are successful not only at the box office, but they are successful also in the opinion of a large part of mankind. This is a considerable consolation for our efforts over the years.

Time should make enemies and Life should make friends.

I want everyone to get used to the idea of what they call the Lucepapers without Luce.

I suggest that what we want to do is not to leave to posterity a great institution, but to leave behind a great tradition of journalism ably practiced in our time.

Facebook application Facebook application - Hi Kevin - thanks for the suggestion! The two that we were thinking of were Famous Entrepreneur Quotes and Which famous entrepreneur am I most like? I like your idea as well. We've got a rollout schedule of new features for the site that we are working on first before we can get to the Facebook app. We're also not sure how hard it is to integrate into Facebook. It looks like there is a php way to do it which is great because that is our core competency.
