How do you think you can help other members in the forums?
Marketing -> Sales -> Customer Service cycle is my forte. I don't claim to be a guru, expert or wizard but I understand the basics and have used it successfully and failed at some.
Through dialog on this forum I hope to assist entrepreneurs in implementing techniques that will work in their line of business but also encourage you to try something untested.
I'm very resourceful so you will see within "Entrepreneur Resources" posts by me on tools you may find useful and at times how I envision the tool can help you.
What do you like most about the EvanCarmichael.com Forums?
I like the in-depth coverage and help offered on a variety of topics related to being a business owner. I'm confident to state that if I am facing a problem and I did a search on the Forum I would most likely find someone who has experienced it and can shed light on the issue. It leaves me free to spawn my own ideas on the issue to resolve it.
What does your business do?
In my experience of showing entrepreneurs how to funnel prospects through their Marketing -> Sales -> Customer Service cycle they most often fail in customer service. These days' typical Customer Service departments are in fact Customer Complaints departments.
It's the action of this department that converts your one-time customer to become a life-long repeat client and ensures generating constant predictable referrals.
My simple system keeps you on top of mind with every customer - automatically - to generate all the referrals you can handle.
Why did you want to become an entrepreneur?
After moving to Canada in 1998 and making a promise to myself to put myself through university on my own dime I realized the effort it took to trade my time for dollars.
After graduation I moved to a small town in Ontario assisting Employment Insurance recipients to start their own businesses. 60% of the businesses I assisted made it past 2 years and another 40% made it past 5 years.
It got me thinking, "I can do this for myself!"
My first business was a Web Design Company but my challenge was I knew very little about web design. It didn't stop me. My first gig landed me a $4000 project which I completely outsourced for $1000 and took 3 weeks to complete.
I focused what I was good at - Marketing and building relationships! That was my first lesson and really opened my mind to strive to be an entrepreneur.
I sold the projects within my portfolio to a local web design company and moved back home to Toronto to start another venture.
Who is your favourite entrepreneur?
Richard Branson - it's all here as to why I admire this man: http://www.evancarmichael.com/.....raphy.html
What is your favourite business book?
"Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill and "How to Make Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie have made the biggest impact in my life.
I wonder if my kids someday will find this appropriate bed-time reading!
What is your definition of success?
Hmmm.. from the material point I'd like to own an island - maybe one of those islands their building off the shore of Dubai: . I'll need my own my own Jet and take up flying again.
I'd also like to be making a huge impact on people's lives and leave a legacy for my future family. I want to create a world where people believe there is endless opportunity and they always have a "choice". There's a book in me somewhere.
