How do you think you can help other members in the forums? With almost 20 years of entrepreneurial experience, I can always share a few good stories, ‘do's and don'ts', and How to's. I have an interest in franchising and business opportunities that may translate into some helpful tips for some of you. There's a wealth of information from this group. There are writers, loan specialists, marketing experts, and a few business coaches. Kevin's a great administrator that really keeps the ball rolling. Step up and add your voice to the mix and make this forum an even better resource for others. What does your business do? We design and fabricate extraordinary custom rugs and carpets for residential and corporate clients. In 2008 we launched a 'business opportunity' that teaches aspiring entrepreneurs to enter into this creative field of custom rug fabrication. In our program we share our successful business model and teach all facets of the business from marketing to design to production. Why did you want to become an entrepreneur? I find it difficult to conform within a corporate structure. Being fiercely independent doesn't help much either. I suppose I would rather face the challenges inherent in entrepreneurship than be a cog in machine. Plus I like to think that I have no ceiling to what I can earn… it's all up to me. Who is your favourite entrepreneur? Richard Branson – He's fearless. Looking at his bio should be a requisite for any aspiring entrepreneur: He's started over a dozen businesses, many in very competitive markets. He'll go head to head with the big guys and run circles around them with better products, better service and better prices. His Virgin brand is synonymous with everything that is cooool. Plus he's a decent guy. What is your favourite business book? It's hard to pick just one; so I'll share my top 3. What is your definition of success? I really think true success is a journey towards inner happiness. This encompasses a whole range of values that you choose to live by – or not . Those values can include living in a state of integrity, balance, well being, and perhaps even an attitude of gratitude. Of course, this is easier said than done, after all, we have careers and family and who has time for that inner journey stuff anyway? I believe we must make the time. Success isn't about money, it's about having a balanced life. |
