Poll: Blogger or Wordpress Blog?

Postby GT Bulmer » Sun Jul 05, 2009 12:36 am

Poll: Do you have a Blogger blog, a Wordpress Blog, both, or neither?

Blogging is a recommended and valuable online marketing resource for entrepreneurs.

I am wondering how many of our forum members have Blogger blogs, Wordpress blogs, both, or neither?

Also, I invite discussion about why you use the service you use and if you recommend it to other entrepreneurs.
What are the advantages?
Are there disadvantages?
Do you use something besides Blogger or Wordpress for blogging?

Feel welcome to post comments in this thread and be sure to participate in the blogging poll.

Hello:

I use a Blogger blog hosted on my StarrBizz domain. I chose Blogger because it was recommended by my first online mentor when I first launched my Internet Marketing business and it was free.

Many of my online marketing friends use Wordpress (also free) and proclaim it to be much more versatile. In fact, many people use their Wordpress blog page as their website homepage.

I still use Blogger because I have hundreds of blog posts there and I'm worried about switching to a new style and starting all over again. However, I can see the writing on the wall...

I use both. In fact, I have several Blogger blogs and two Wordpress blogs.

I love how easy it is to set up a Blogger blog, and I like it's close relationship to Google.

I'm setting up a new site now with what will be a fairly stable html site and blogger blog which will serve as the main article directory and the dynamic part of the whole site.

My main website hosts both a Blogger and Wordpress blog! Heck, I hope I don't win the PPG contest otherwise I'll end up with another Wordpress blog on my site!

I own 1 wordpress blog and several blogger blogs, why, because I can't bring myself to make this tiny little step and transfer my blogs to wp.
Like you, GT, I have so many post I am afraid to loose them when I transfer.

both services has their advantages and disadvantages, I love working with both of them, I will recommend both, depend on your needs and abilities to learn new stuff.

I would recommend Blogger to newbies simply because it is so quick and easy to set up.

I had a Blogger blog when I first started but only made one post to it. When I joined the PPG last year and found out how important blogging was I had the free Wordpress blog installed for me and I haven't looked back since. I absolutely love it. Tim

Hi Tim,

I agree - Wordpress is a great platform and every serious Internet marketer should get one installed.

However, for a newbie, "having it installed" might involve an expense they are not ready for, whereas Blogger is quick, free and easy to get started.

Of course, I also advise that people use both Blogger and Wordpress, and simply blog about different stuff on the two different platforms (or modify blog posts and double up).

Yeah, Yeah. I know, I know.
It's on my to do list. (Well, it's been on that list for quite some time, but it's moving up the list.)

Thanks everyone, for your input in this thread. I know people will find the discussion very informative.

Like Tim I had a Blogger blog with only one post on it and then joined PPG and got the free Wordpress blog installed for me and must admit that I love it. Unlike David I don't seem to cope with a lot of different blogs and websites. Am still trying to get to my new niche blog and do some work there, but something always seems to get in the way and it has a higher priority so that comes first.

i have used both blogger & wordpress, both have its own advantages. Blogger is very simple to use & even a novice user could manage a blog when compared to wordpress.

At the same time the advantages that I feel about wordpress are,
- availability of useful Plugins to make complex works, simple
- we can change the PHP code to customize our requirements
- availability of great & free Themes
- we could easily get solutions for any kind of problem !!!

I like wordpress :-)

Well, it is difficult! I'm not sure that I "cope" either!

I try and keep my main Blogger blog hosted on my site updated fairly regularly, and a supplementary Blogger blog about twice a month.

My TigersCave (Wordpress) blog gets neglected sometimes.

At the moment my Blogger TripleClicks blog has been revived after a long period of doing nothing.

But my "What I did for my biz today" blog is sadly neglected even though it was designed for quick posts last thing in the evening... An intended habit that was not hammered home.

My article marketing blog gets updated every so often.

My Japanese Games Shop blog gets updated every so often.

My mahjong, general gossip blog has recently been neglected... even though I'm currently at the top of our mahjong table and therefore need to blow my own trumpet!

Beyond that, there are three more blogs that need reviving: English renaissance literature... Succeed in English (English langauge study)... and a 100-word-book-reviews blog that I have pretty much dropped now.

 @David: My head hurts, contemplating all of your blogs! I've had thoughts and intentions of starting a few extra context-focused blogs, but have never found the time to actually do it.

Like Michelle, I have a niche site with a blog that I've intended to add to, but never seem to get to. I think all a person can do is keep these things in mind and when the right door opens, take a step inside.

Oh! By the way ... @MrVen ... thanks for your list of Wordpress advantages! :D

I think an advantage of using Wordpress for the blog is related to Google. I read the Google is indexing the pages faster and in this way they will rank better in searches. This was the main reason when we have decided to create the company's blog.

One of the advantages of having a blogger blog is a fast approval for adsense.
If you want to start earning with Google Adsense open a new blog and add Adsense to it and get approved immediately.

I use both and think they both have advantages and disadvantages.

Blogger is easier to get set up and going and I think it is better if you are building niche blogs or a blog just for the purpose of posting content to rank in the search engines.

I think WP is better for flagship blogs and other blogs that you want to look good and have a lot of functionality.
