Alexa updated its ranking system in April. They no longer only rely on the Alexa toolbar for data and have turned to using more sources to get additional information. To read about the changes, check out Alexa's blog post from April 15th. How has the change impacted my site? Here are the updated numbers: EvanCarmichael.com- April 1st 2008: 43,091 - May 1st 2008: 38,360 - Gain: 4,731 positions - 2008 Goal: 20,000 or under Entrepreneur.com- April 1st 2008: 5,376 - May 1st 2008: 2,347 - Gain: 3,029 positions It will be interesting to see how the change impacts our sites (and many others) in the coming months. Has your site seen a rise or fall in Alexa rankings with the new update?

It certainly has been an interesting month here on the EvanCarmichael.com Forums! We upgraded to the new phpbb3, had server issues due to Yahoo! Slurp queries, and have upped the ante on our prizes to the highest value yet!
How have these changes impacted our Alexa rankings?:
EvanCarmichael.com - May 1st 2008: 38,360 - June 1st 2008: 34,198 - Gain: 4,162 positions - 2008 Goal: 20,000 or under
Entrepreneur.com - May 1st 2008: 2,347 - June 1st 2008: 2,510 - Loss: 163 positions
It looks like the changes have had a positive effect as we've grown by 12% in Alexa rankings for each of the past 2 months! Thank you for your continued support and I'm looking forward to making even more exciting upgrades to the Forums!

But, those goals are the most satisfying Like you mentioned, seven more months to get there. Just think of where you started and how far you've come. Shri

After an exciting month at EvanCarmichael.com I'm pleased to say that we're continuing to move forward in our Alexa rankings. Here is how we stood at July 1st.
EvanCarmichael.com - June 1st 2008: 34,198 - July 1st 2008: 33,305 - Gain: 893 positions - 2008 Goal: 20,000 or under
Entrepreneur.com - June 1st 2008: 2,510 - July 1st 2008: 3,056 - Loss: 546 positions
The good news is that we've had a positive month and are marching forward on our goals. Entrepreneur.com also took a major setback losing almost 22% of their rankings.
The bad news, however is that at this current rate of growth we're not going to get under 20,000 by the end of 2008 so it's going to take a big effort in the remaining months to really push the site forward!
Thank you for your continued support and ideas!

Hey guys, at this rate I'm gonna overtake you!! Here's my site, Grasp-The-Nettle.com ranking on Alexa, 20th May 2008: 3,036,901 ... and here we are on 2nd July 2008: 1,210,998 Now, if I can jump by as much over a similar length of time, I should be No 1 before the autumn!! See you at the top! David Hurley

In July we saw a heated competition between ideasuniversity and David Hurley for top position in the leader board. On the main website we also launched The Top 10 GTD Times posts of the year, The Top 50 Geek Blogs of the year, a profile of Kellogg's founder W.K. Kellogg, and a section devoted to women entrepreneurs. What impact did it have on the site? Unfortunately we lost ground in Alexa in the past month. EvanCarmichael.com- July 1st 2008: 33,305 - August 1st 2008: 36,693 - Loss: 3,388 positions - 2008 Goal: 20,000 or under Entrepreneur.com- July 1st 2008: 3,056 - August 1st 2008: 3,605 - Loss: 549 positions It's most likely a seasonal trend as people are searching for vacation destination websites instead of entrepreneur sites and I'm confident the trend will come back in our favor in the fall! Thank you for your continued support!
