My experiences as a entrepreneur

Postby vliou » Tue Jul 10, 2007 6:35 am

Hey guys,

Been a lurker for a while! I have been writing in my blog regarding my entrepreneurial experiences with affiliate marketing and my 6 year journey with my own email company. Here's a link to my blog...nothing to sell here! Just a honest man's blog about his experiences. Hope it helps! http://www.thinkpost.net/affiliate/

Confusing blog

Postby OmnivoreInk » Tue Jul 10, 2007 10:07 pm

I go there and I see one post. I had to go to the top banner and click All Posts to see everything.

Perhaps figuring that out shouldn't have taken me as long as it did... :(

Anyway, some interesting reading there about google ads... Reaffirms the fact: You can't make money quickly. It takes time to build up readership.

My apologies. The post you saw was a Table of Contents instructing the end user to click on one of the sections on the top. I will try and find a way to make it more obvious. Thanks for reading!

Greetings vliou

I can tell that you're using your blog to basically rant and rave about your experiences with particular companies and people. You can get away with this for a while I found but then it became too negative in my opinion. However you've done a good job to keep it from becoming boring and entered lots of details so well done on that front, I enjoyed reading about the companies you used to succeed.

My advice for you is to stick to the subjects that you're good at or as you said, a genius at. If you're a much better email hoster than affiliate advertiser then cancel your affiliate advertising account now and concentrate more on your email hosting business.

Perhaps in the future you'll work out a way to make money out of both your email hosting business and affiliate advertising combined?

Hello!

Thanks for your honest opinion. I do agree with the rants and raves and did specifically choose that approach in order to keep my blog from being boring. As a constant blog-reader, I see people use various techniques so I did try to use two separate ones. For affiliate marketing, it was more of a rant-and-rave, for the email posts, it was more as a descriptive one (I still couldn't help myself at the end!!--too much frustration) - Apologies!

I will most likely continue blogging tonight and will try other tactics.

I have been trying to use affiliate marketing to boost my business though!

Thanks again for reading.

Rants

Postby litekepr » Wed Jul 11, 2007 2:02 pm

There is a lot of frustration and trial and error with affiliate programs. So, its good to address that, just keep it upbeat and show that it can and does work. I'm familiar with the blog format you're using, so I knew to click on "All Posts". But, I found that confusing on the blog I used that was set up like this. Still working on the best way to get people where I want them. Can you set it up so that people get to the "All Posts" page when they first come to your page? Not explaining that really well, hope the message came through :)

Hello,

Thanks for your comments. Makes sense...

The reason I did it that way was to help curb confusion. I will be writing about various topics and I was trying to keep readers from being confused. The All Posts tab may have been. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!
